Does the scanner light up while it's in this warm up mode?

If so you might try carefully opening the scanner section and cleaning the mirrors and bulb with a lint free cloth. Unfortunatly on this unit that is easier said than done. I've seen it take experinced techs over an two hours to accomplish this (the first time anyhow).

Carefull cleaning of the optics seems to alleviate the problem (at least for a while) about 60% of the time.

Hey, man. Outside of trying to clean the white plate under the scan glass, I think your out of luck. Had this on a couple of these and the troubleshooting was to no avail outside of replacing the whole darn unit Q2660-60143. No parts avail outside of the PCB Q2657-60001. Good luck, post your results.
The glass maybe half full, but less is more...
Printer + Fax + Copier = Jack Of Many Trades,
      but Master Of None
Color Copier = Not A Color Printer
InkJet MFP = Not A Fax Machine
      B/W Copier = Not A Press
Finisher = Deal Closer (salesman, not accessory)
Copier Tech = Admin's Stress Ball (Scapegoat)

I did cleaning first. It did not hlelp.
Lamp is still lighting, but the signal from lamp does not come to ccd .

        wrong CCD?
        wrong lamp?
        wrong mirrors?

Is there any servis mode on this machine?
        How to enter servis mode?
        Have anyone servis manual?
Is necessary to change some values around lamp signals returned from lamp back to CCD. Any calibration?

White plate on reverse side of glass - no problem with this model .
Scaner does no moves.First waites for lamp is ligting enough.
If lamp does not light enough, scaner motor does not move.
CCD waits for signal returned from lamp.

I reckon I've done at least 10 of these machines for this fault. I've only had recall on one. The first I did (3300) I think about two years ago and is still in use. I think the major tip is to use good lens cleaning fluid and be thorough. You can use a torch light to view refection from mirror to mirror and inspect for smudges.

You'll need to take the lamp off the scanner for better access, but do not remove the mirrors. If you put one in backwards, it of course then fails. Don't forget the laser lense too.

Lube the mech and clean the underside (inclusive prior mentioned white strip.

Leave scan assy at opposite end to white initialising strip on reassembly. (Seems to help?)

This fix works in cases where
            there are longer warmup times
sometimes ending with scanner failures but works again.
motor initialisation and such is normal
