This call started with 'blurry' prints. You can see the scan axis edges of the image below. I figured I was looking at an encoder strip problem, so I replaced that. Halfway through the printhead alignment, I heard a clunk and got a 86.01 error. I can easily move the carriage back and forth. Now, as soon as I turn it on, I hear a slight bump from the axis motor, and it immediately gives me a 86.01. I'm figuring it's the motor, but I wonder if it's a board. If you look hard enough, you can see some banding in the diagnostic print as well as the blur on the edges.
