    [CQ] m281 laser cleaning

Hello, my m281is printing very light all colors. All supplies are at 90% and the image on the transfer belt is very weak. I removed the toner tray and tried cleaning the laser glass through the exposure slits and tested the same. The unit is very dirty and the machine is left on all the time. I cannot find any documentation on the removal of the laser unit to clean or replace. almost thinking the the machine could be trash. I guess I could run high compressed air not the can stuff, didn't work! Drums and developers are driving.

Don't use an air compressor, unless you remove everything on the chassis. With compressed air you can force dust into areas that ordinarily would never get dirty.

I am not familiar with this specific model, but I have cleaned a lot of lasers, and there must be a way to do a proper optics cleaning. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

+ 5 on the no canned air without removing all major parts.
If you're going to go that deep vac the mother out first.
Then clean every rubber tire/roller in it.

Pull the laser and clean the bejeebus out of the mirrors. We've seen this repeatedly. For some reason the 281's suck everything they can into the laser and coat the mirrors. Part isn't spared, so you have to pull it and clean it.
