Assuming you're using roll media, make sure you can not turn the roll independant of the spindle. The printer relies on both sensing the spindle (and the roll) turning, as well as rewinding the paper back onto the roll. If the roll can turn without the spindle turning, this will cause errors and strange behavior like the paper being unloaded for no apparent reason.
If necessary put a wrap or two of tape around the spindle rod so the collet you slide onto the spindle can grip the spindle better.
If this is not the problem, then you may have a problem with the media sensor. It could just need to be cleaned with some compressed air.
Do you have access to the service manual?

I've seen this quite a lot. On one occasion I had a customer blaming the machine for wrinkling the paper ... until I removed the roll and showed him the wrinkled paper on the roll. His explanation was: " ... but it was really cheap ... ". I have no argument with that. Very cheap.
"81:01"errors (internal error 272646145), "79.2:04" errors (internal error -1161953269), "79:04" errors (internal error -1161889074). Paper servo shutdown. Paper advance is out of calibration. Power OFF > unplug power cord > remove paper spindles > wait 10 minutes > plug in power cord > power ON > when plotter comes to "Ready" select Paper > Roll 1 > Unload > Roll 2 > Unload > Roll 1 > Load (load roll 1 paper) > Paper Advance Calibration is automatically performed > when complete select Paper > Roll 2 > Load (load roll 2 paper).
Misfed 81:01 (internal code 276828161), 86:01 (internal code 272646145), won't clear.
Paper corner remains unseen in the cleanout media sensor. Jam condition will not clear when paper has been removed.
Insert heavy mylar sheet from the roll insertion point to push out the paper jammed. Unload all paper. Power Off/On. When prompted, re-load paper rolls. If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
