Z3100 keeps feeding sheet fed media out of printer

A guy, a few hundred miles away, approached me with this problem on a Z3100:

"There are no error codes displayed. It just doesn't recognize the sheet fed media. It keeps feeding the paper out, displaying "paper too large" Not sure what to think."

Has anyone ever encountered this problem? If so, what was the resolution?

On the surface without having been to the site, I am thinking possibly a problem with the sheet feed sensor, but not sure. I have been told to do a "sheet feed calibration" 1st. I have relayed that to the customer.

I've gone back and forth with pbrooks259 on this issue and I believe it's the media sensor under the printer that is stuck, making the printer think paper is always loaded. The easy fix is to simply reach up under there and wiggle/whack the plastic holder for the sensor to free it again. You don't have to remove it and I advise not removing it because it's a bit of a puzzle to get back in correctly.

This is a common problem on the T series Designjet printers.

Here's a picture of the holder for the media sensor. This is looking up under the printer to the right of center.
