HP DJ 500 Toner cartridge HP 10 vs HP 82

Will the HP 82 toner cartridge work in a HP DJ 500/800? My supplier says they are a replacement for the discontinued HP10 toner cartridge, however the machine will not recognize
the cartridge. The machine gives an incorrect toner cartridge message.

This series use the 82 for color and 10 for black

Also there was a firmware update a few years ago that added something for the consumables, cant remeber if it was the printheads or inks

Firmware update was to correct a problem with the black print head being rejected

Yes that is correct, but the black hp10 was discontinued last November. Some suppliers are selling a black HP 82 cartridge as a replacement for the HP 10.
I wanted to know if anyone has seen the black HP 82 work in a DJ 500. I think swapping the chip might work.

The 82 black ink (not toner) is only for use in the HP DesignJet 111, 510, 510ps.
