    [Error Code] Error 08:04 Plotter HP Designjet T2300PS eMPF

    Hello everybody!
    I have an HP Designjet T2300PS eMPF plotter with error 08:04. The manual guides to update firmware. I already have the latest firmware version installed, but the error still occurs. I think I will have to change hard drive and formatter. As they are expensive parts, I would like to know if anyone has had this problem and how they managed to get around it. I welcome suggestions for tests I can take to get a more accurate diagnosis. Thanks in advance to everyone who can collaborate.

      It's most likely the hard drive. But it can be the also the formatter, or power supply. Start with the hard drive.

          Thank you, Kiran! Always helpful! Today the error did not occur. This makes diagnosis difficult. I'll monitor to see where it goes. Parts for this machine cost a lot here in Brazil. And that's when you find them! Just to give you an idea: here in Brazil this piece is found for sale. Comparatively, it costs US$2,100. It's disheartening. But we fought until the end. I will update the post whenever I do something. Grateful!

              I had this with an old T1100. It was the battery on the formatter Board (had low voltage). So perhaps you should check the voltage of the battery first.

                  Here's a suggestion on testing that backup battery. It was a common issue on older analog Mitas. The machine would lose it's PM data, and the maintenance light would blink.

                  So find the battery, and clip leads onto the battery. Any time the power is connected there will be 5vdc at the battery. Now power off the machine and unplug the power. If the value drops below 3.6vdc your battery is failing. I've seen that value drop from 5vdc to 0.1vdc is 3 seconds. =^..^=
                  If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
