P3015 tries to select tray 1

I am getting a prompt to load paper in tray 1 or select a different tray with every print job, even when printing reports from the control panel.

The trays are all set to letter size plain paper. If I select the specific tray in the print driver, it pulls from that tray. But if I use auto select or printer auto select, it always goes to tray 1 and asks to load paper. And as I said, this also happens from internal prints like reports.

Is there some setting to set the priority tray? What am I missing?

    Hello,

Are you using the KX driver ? The XPS driver will give you these types of issues.

      Hi,

if you go to the control panel on a windows pc and then to hardware and sound - -> devices and printers
--> and you should see your Hp LaserJet p3015 in the list, now right click on the icon and go to printer properties
then the top tabs you should see device settings in there it should list all the trays and there sizes
if you not planning to use the tray 1 / mp tray then change it to some other size like c5 envelope.

and then make sure your other trays or tray has the correct paper size and then press apply

      See if this helps.

Unfortunately, the customer does use tray 1 for printing labels occasionally, so this isn't an option. Also, the problem isn't in the driver, since it happens when printing internal reports from the control panel as well.

Have you tried a firmware update.

                I see.
Could you make a request to see if it can be checked.

Go into the Printing Menu and check the MANUAL FEED option. Is it turned ON or OFF (default)?

If it's turned on, the printer will ALWAYS try feeding from the manual feed tray first.

Go to your paper handling and see what it says you have in tray 2. If it thinks you have a different size or type, then it is going to ask for the size or type to be loaded in tray 1. What does the config page say for size and type in tray 2?

You could try a cold reset. That has fixed alot of strange glitches for me over the years.
