Very often the paper will only exit about 3/4 of the way and just stop as though the exit rollers just stopped turning before paper completely exiting. Could it be a sensor flag is hanging up and causes a jam detect which stops cycle? If the back door is left open I believe it works and exits fine into alternate exit area. Any help is appreciated. LJ2200 Not completely exiting
Remove the rear door and print with it off to troubleshoot. If it doesn't have a problem, the problem is with the cover, but usually its the following 3 things:
- Inspect the exit roller on the fuser. Sometimes, due to the heat, those rollers get soft and sticky, gear tab breaks, or the bushings get worn. The exit roller can be replaced or if the fuser is worn replace the whole fuser. (OEM rollers last longer)
- If the fuser sleeve is damaged the sleeve wont turn properly and the paper will not move at normal speed. When that happens it will not reach the exit sensor at the correct time and you get a paper late error (jam error). (This is one of my pet peeves, but a lot of techs pick up bad habits. If you replace the sleeve, use high temp grease on the heating element and change the pressure roller at the same time so they wear evenly. I dont know how many techs I've seen replace one and not the other. Wouldn't you change your tires on your car in pairs? Clean the gears and other fuser parts while you're if they are not broken. It will run smoother. If you believe that is too much work, replace the entire fuser.)
- Paper sensor flag in the fuser is out of position or broken. It could also be the sensor, but that's not as common as above. (We rebuild about 70-80 a month, so I see a lot of these.)
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
