HP M880 ADF gives *horizontal* line!?

This one is a little bit special; When scanning from the ADF the output has a horizontal line (ie, not a vertical line). I don't even understand how this can happen.
Same place and line on all scans. See attachment.

Latest firmware (4.12.0.1) and everything else looks fine. The flatbed scanner does not give this line, only the ADF.

Any clue where to start troubleshooting this? 🤔

So just to clarify: That line is crossfeed? If yes, start with the simplest of solutions: clean every rubber, metal, or plastic roller thoroughly. I use an orange oil based cleaner. It leaves the rollers a little oily, but after a few dozen originals, any residue feeds off onto the originals.

This is seen on a lot of Toshibas DF's. As the trailing edge of the original is released by the last set of rollers before the slit glass, the original can shift or skew. the image may have a line, it may be blurred (expansion or compression), or it may skew. Thorough cleaning is always a good place to start. Toshiba DF's have many adjustments for DF height and angle which also helps, but AFAIK, HP does not have those same adjustments.

This is one of my database entries on a Toshiba model e Studio 2505AC, 3005AC, 3505AC, 4505AC, 5005AC Weisshorn 2H:
Just to be clear, I have not always been able to resolve this issue. On one occasion I walked around our office testing every compatible DF, until I found one that did not blur. I asked my manager if I could have that DF for my special customer, and I would rebuild the old one as best as I could for our machine. That was the final solution.

For your sake I hope that I'm wrong. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
