    White streaking on LJ4250

At first there was a line and smudging on one side with white streaking in middle. The toner was low and the drum looked fatigued so I changed the imaging unit. Some marks went away but otherwise almost the same. I changed fuser unit and got rid of smudging and line but the white streaking is still there. Also changed transfer roller.
The toner is not HP but that is because it is the Micro toner for printing checks and HP does not provide it but refers you to a 3rd party called Troy. It was a Troy cartridge in machine. I replace it with a competitor's Micro cartridge and streaks remained. Troy charges $450 for a cartridge.
The customer is not complaining about the white streaks as they are less obvious now when printing checks which customer uses this machine exclusively for. On regular bond paper the streaking is more obvious as I used it for test prints. Any information is appreciate. I am just concerned that it may get worse and I'd like to eliminate streaks. Two things:

Make sure that the laser mirrors & slit glass are clean.
Re-check the transfer roller. That's what fixed mine. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

It's been my experience that ALL re-filled cartridges are potential trouble. Did you try with an OEM (non-MICR) cartridge? That will tell if the Troy(s) are bad, which I've had many bad ones. Check what BlackCat said, then the cartridge.

Thanks David and Jeff. It sounds like David may be right as I did not clean laser mirrors or slit glass and I will check manual before I return. I don't think it is the cartridge because the white streaks are in the very same place with 2 different mfr cartridges. The customer is not complaining but I feel guilty cause customer spent big bucks and should get better results.Frank

Frank, they are printing through the bypass? checks?

check with all above and also consider that you can change what type paper is being used in the tray. I had an issue where I had to change the settings in printer properties to get the right print on checks.

By changing your settings, it either increases heat or slows machine to fit your needs, not saying this is issue but does not hurt to experiment if above fails.

Thanks Phil. When I last tested the machine I used the bypass as customer had trays 2 and 3 loaded with checks. The white streaks were very obvious on the 20 lb bond paper in bypass but had practically disappeared on checks printing from other trays. I was just afraid it would come back on checks and wanted to be certain I had eliminated problem.
Also, it would be a learning experience for me as I am not an expert on machine and the fact that the white streaks was still there was bothersome. Frank
