LJ P4014 data, attn. and ready lites flashing..no error message in displ just HP logo

I have the LJ P4010 manual not getting error message in display while the data, attention and ready lites are flashing. Is this a fuser problem. I understood there was some kind of fuser issue on machine and HP was sending out new fusers to customers for free if certain problem were occurring.
Am I supposed to press a comination of keys to get an error code or am I looking at fuser or hvsb. problem. Any help is appreciated . Frank/ActionPhotocopy

PS ...Customer said problem started out with printing blank pages and then progressed to present state after he turned machine off and back on

Try turning on without fuser installed and disconected from network. Had a similar problem with 4015 trying to update firmware. googled it and had to remove extra tray take duplexer out update firmware and when it updated and rebooted quick install duplexer, stand on one foot, etc. Good Luck!

Tried without fuser and same thing happens as when it is in. The 3 lites flash one after the other and there is no message in display just the HP logo that gets bigger and smaller.FRANK

        Formatter
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Thanks Lori. It was the formatter though the machine is still non functional. Getting error message 68.2 "Permanent Storage Write Fail" event log shows 68.8203. I know this is associated with DC controller and want know if there is some kind of reset or initialization procedure on this model or does the DC Controller have to be changed. You need to perform a HD init even if you do not have a hard drive installed.

            Turn the product on.
            2. As the product performs its power-on sequence, press and hold the Menu button until all three lights on the control panel are lit.
            3. Press the back arrow. The message INITIALIZE DISC displays on the control panel.
            4. Press OK. The product initializes the hard disk and continues the power-on sequence.

I did that but it still went back to the 68.2 code. The machine has too many problems. I changed the dc controller and then it went into ready okay with no error message. Then tray 2 was getting late jam as paper was not being fed out of tray. Ramp was up. I temporarily used tray 1 and then it started printing reverse images with white lettering on black background. Too much grief for a customer that is a pain and won't spend the money.
I'm also worried now about repairing a machine with so many issues as what can I expect down the road in near future. I am cutting my losses and returning formatter etc. Thanks for the assistance. Frank
