    HP p3005 Settings Help (Legal/letter)

    Hi All,

Hopefully you guys can help me out. Let me know if you need any more information. I did a quick search on the forums and google, but couldn’t find anyone with this problem. A user has a P3005 with the PCL5 driver, on Windows XP. I can't print to a different type of paper (Legal or Letter) without changing the settings on the machine itself.

On the Machine I currently have
    Tray 1: Letter
    Tray 2: Letter
    Tray 3: Legal

In the printer preferences there’s no mention of tray 3 when printing.

Also It doesn’t let me print to legal at all – regardless of preferences set on the computer. If I change the setting on the printer itself: tray 2 to Legal it will pull from tray 3(legal paper), but when I do that it doesn’t let me print to letter when I choose any settings on the computer.

Has anyone seen this, or may know what I’m doing wrong here. Let me know if you need any more information

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Edit: Tried restarting and re-installing the drivers multiple times.

I see what paper you have loaded ... but what paper sizes and media types are programmed in the Paper Handling part of the menu? I suspect that tray #3 is programmed to some size other than legal/plain. On the machine I saw the other day it was "B5"/plain (a European paper size). I can be pretty sure that this printer will not ever be called on to print onto B5 sized paper. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If the driver doesn't recognize some options then maybe the wrong driver or maybe try a different driver either way to see if you get a different result.

You've made no mention that you have in fact 'installed' tray 3 in the printer properties dialog box on your PC:
        Control panel/ Printers/(right click) HP P3005/ Properties / device settings / installable options/ tray 3 (installed)

          Hey all,

I'll try the 3 options, hopefully it works! I'll let you know the results!

          Thanks,
