[Jamming] HP 4250 after PM and replacement swing plate gate doesn't function...

Just did a PM on my office printer, not a HP guy, mostly know bigger machines, but i love my HP printer, use it just for check printing and a daily black and white.

Didn't need a PM but there was some wear on the fuser, so did it.

After the $89.99 +$12 for a OEM rebuild fuser and oem parts, did the pm, a loud noise started that was there before but not like this. Knew it was the swing plate, tried to pull a gear swap but the entire thing was worn out.

Replaced the swing plate with some great direction on you tube, took me 2 hours or so, off and on, go it buttoned up and its working great, quiet as a HP4250 can be...

I should add that i have a 2nd 500 sheet tray, the duplex unit, and the stacker stapler. I like it because i can make daily checks print in the upper tray and all other printing below...

I know whats wrong, but i don't know why its happening. I see that the gate in the paper delivery section is not opening, it sounds like its making that click almost like it should, but the gate doesn't open and the paper comes out the lower exit. So as long as i tell it to print to the bottom tray its fine.

i see a one way bearing on the same shaft that i would think could open the gate if turned in reverse. I wish there was an I/O mode i could make it pop the gate to see if something is loose.

When i do try to print more then 1 page to the top tray it errors out with a 13.12.10 JAM in the accessory. From my own common sense, i know that other then this the only think i see is that the 2 sets of paper exit guides that prevent the paper from curling as well as tell the machine lower bin is full are not even, one side hits a sensor the other does nothing.

I do see the spring is in tact on the gate, and has tension, any help would be appreciated.

    thanks,

    Mike

Since you have to remove the top cover when you replace the swingplate, There is a small white plastic piece that the solenoid pushes to switch to Stacker; It falls out all the time on me. Most of my 4250's I work on dont have that stacker so it really doesnt matter but to you it does; Suggest you see if it fell out. It is located looking at front of machine on the left side on the rear of the top cover. Its a square opening and the piece is spring;loaded; Just a thought.

I was going to suggest something more mundane, like: " ... you broke it. Take it apart again and find what you screwed up." You have to take a lot of stuff apart to do the swing plate properly. It's easy to miss a connector, or not mate a connector just right.

But I like your suggestion better. I forgot all about the plunger. It usually drops on the ground during dis-assembly. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
