None of them are "compatible" with other makes. Occasionally you will get a rebadged printer which Dell do lot's of but the chip on the cartridge will stop it being used in another manufacturers machine even if it is the same engine. TaComment

I think all toner is compactable. Are you thinking of making toner bricks? It also works well for charcoal-like shading/blending, and like chalk, if you have an artistic bent.
