    Lexmark xm7170

    has anyone ever removed a hard drive from a copier and been able to retrieve the contents of the hard drive? if so what software was used, if any? i don't have another 7170 i can stick the hard drive in to retrieve the address book and contacts.

    I've changed HDD on two Lexmarks ... an XS736de and an XS748de. The XS736 would reset and work for 10 days to two weeks, then reoccur. The symptom was failure to scan originals for faxing. It prompted for a recovery process, which worked each time. After the second reset I replaced the HDD and never went back. The XS748 errored out until I unplugged the drive. It never reset.

    So hopefully yours is more like the first one. =^..^=

    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
