    XC9235 not booting up

    Hi all,

    We have a device that fails to boot up, it is stuck on this screen.

    Does anyone here have a possible solution please ?

    Maybe there a way to load / update firmware when the device is in this state ?

    Do you know how to enter Invalid Engine Mode or Recovery Mode?

    You might try that.

      Hi,

      Yes thanks, from reading the service manual. Just wondered if there was a way to back up / update the firmware from a USB pen drive.

        Have you tried to power up the device with the HDD disconnected? This should rule out other possible parts; controller, pcb's, etc

          have another model lexmark doing the same thing. haven't been on site yet. but my plan is to boot into invalid engine code. then push the firmware from the web browser while accessing the overhead. then if that doesn't work i plan to disconnect the hard drive. i just hope it works, won't find out until next week. good luck.

            Turn on the printer while holding 2+7+8. You will enter recovery mode, than try to update firmware.

            You can also try to enter 2+6 to enter configuration menu, and try factory defaults.

              ok here is the fix i came up with today. and i have informed lexmark, so they are aware for future reference. i noticed on boot, the black background, there was 2 slightly darker black bands. so i thought hmmmm could be control panel. so after control panel disassembly i reseated the cables to the panel. after reboot it went to the home screen. i was then able to access the web interface. and then i updated the firmware. so far this seems to have fixed the issue. fyi now during the boot process, it does seem to be slow, and still shows the little circles. the circles that was posted in the photo above.. but if you wait it will eventually show the lexmark logo and then the home screen. copying and printing worked afterwards.

                Does anything take longer to boot up than a Lexmark?

                Might as well turn them on and go get a cup of coffee.

                We have noticed with the last two firmware updates the boot up time seemed to be longer than normal.

                  Thanks for the info here. Mine was stuck at the circle / boot up overnight, most likely still is, client is not in the church office every day so i've not been back.
