can someone learn me about service mode on a lexmark

i've been working on canon, toshiba, and ricoh for 5 years. we just sold a lexmark 654. the first one that went out the customer rejected because of skew. i'm working on the replacement now. i adjusted the print head and got internal prints fairly straight. i think the scanner and adf skew is straight after alot of adjustments. i can't for the life of me figure out how to adjust side to side and leading edge registration when copying off the glass or the adf. registration is right on when printing the interntal test page. when copying off the glass or the adf its off 2 milimeters. also its stretching the image a few milimeters cross feed direction. off the glass and thru the adf. i've tried adjusting the left and right margins in service mode. no luck

also, is there a way to make test copies off the glass or adf while in service mode? it takes 3-4 minutes to reboot when exiting service mode to test one adjustmet. this thing's about to get pushed off our loading dock

cant remember if this model has a key pad or not, but if it does u hold down 2 and 6 while powering on to get into diag or config mode (cant remember which one that sequence puts u in) and hold donw 3 and 6 to get into the other (either diag or config)

if no keypad its hold down the down and right arrow for one mode and hold down the check mark button and the right arrow for the other mode ( while powering on)

Easy way to remember if config or diag is the alpha characters associated with keys 2 and 3. For config press 2 (ab C) and 6; for diag press 3 (D ef) and 6.

There is a paer alignment adjustment to address skew from the engine; or the printhead adjustment. Neither one of these is very fun. As for the ADF, they all do it. Lexmark has no fix and there are several lengthy posts about the crappy ADF.
