Paper size errors can be caused by a number of things. I am not familiar with this printer, but usually the same or similar things are present when dealing with paper feed issues.

Paper Tray - paper stop may be in the wrong position, damage to the paper stop, paper size actuators may be damaged.
Paper should be lifted to the pick-up roller/s. If not you could have a defective tray or lift assembly (may be a lift drive or pick-up assembly)
Paper Roller/s and separation pads - may be worn causing the paper to move too slow. Timing issues can cause the printer to assume the wrong paper has been installed
Pick-up assembly - a broken gear, missing or damaged bushing or a sticky or flaky solenoid may cause timing problems with the paper not reaching the sensors at the right time.
Paper Size Sensor - This sensor is actuated by the tray and may be part of the pick-up assembly or be a separate sensor.
Control board - a control board on the pick-up assembly or driver board that controls rollers, motors, solenoids and sensors may be defective.

Troubleshoot from the tray first. Mechanical things usually fail first before electronic and rollers are designed to wear out, so that is the most likely places to start. If you're not a tech, I suggest you bring it to one.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
