Dropped out toner density on a MP C2051

    hi
I just lost my whole post trying to add pic

Re: Dropped out toner density on a MP C2051

I cant get jpeg to load it just lost my post again.........
    I delivered a low meter 70k black and 30k color MPC2051 yesterday.
it was below freezing so i pulled all pcdu and ITBU cleaning unit to sit inside my truck for the 2 hour ride.
Machine was shrink wrapped and covered but was exposed to temps in the 20s..
At the account i left the machine open in a warm office for 60 minutes and then unwrapped the warm covered PCDU units and ITBU cl
    unit and reinstalled all parts.
The frame was still cold but i ran a few printer config pages and copies were readable but faded..
    The same for individual colors..
I figure it needs to warm up and i tell customer give it a few hours.
As i have an order of 7 printers to pick up 60 mins away i leave.
With a load of printers i return 3 hours later.
the black copies are now worse..barely readable..
I tried a forced toner load,a fresh k toner, even pulled unit and spiked the dev unit,
etc and pull the k drum unit apart, cleaning the drum and charge roller and all contacts..the drum showed 20k total count.
the dev brush looks good and touching it i have a nice dark mark on my finger .
I clean the rear conectors and contacts but nothing..
not showing any codes either except with process Control Self-check Result 00000054
    ID sensor

    coefficient (K5)maximum/minimum error
ID sensor pattern density is too high or low.

As I had 7 printers in my truck bed I couldnt stay very long.
IF there is no HV charge to charge roller or dev bias shouldnt i see a sc code? sc 312?
And if the drum/dev drive motors didnt turn doesnt that throw a sc code too? sc 396?

Being a 2hour drive back I want to be ready.
    so a tested k PCDU unit,a HV unit,BICU unit..

I will try to load pics again on next reply
    thanks in advance

It will take many hours for a machine to get back to normal operating temperature, best to leave it on overnight etc.

You can have many issues, usually condensation forming on the transfer belt & laser glass plus other areas.

          hi
i thought that but the cyan yellow and magenta and any individual colors i did a half skyshot are bold and perfect..
So it is only the black...i wiped the laser area with the felt jig thing..
and knowing customer he tried it this morning and still not right.........
IS there anything completely separate for black that i ve might have missed?

looking at the copies, the itb cleaning unit may be worn out or full. Check the itb cleaning unit's waste container. This model got a separate itb waste container on the left side. The yield on those is 60k - p/n D1056036. fairly inexpensive to replace

              thanks
I am familiar and on all my used machine sales i pull waste unit and ITBU cleaning unit and empty them and reset counter.
I even pulled the cleaning unit for the 2 hour ride as it was in the 20s and i didnt want a stiff cleaning blade rubbing on my transfer belt...
I am going to pull HV ps and black drive unit and BICU brd..Looks like they got 2 feet of snow so it wont be today as i dont like slipping and sliding
              on bad roads.

What was the solution to this problem, I'm having same problem. I replaced itb unit, ptr, black PCU and hv board with no change of state.

Maybe try replacing the density sensor pcb.
It sits below the itb assy looking up at the belt.
Unusual for it to be faulty and not throw an sc400 but not unheard of.

Or at least give them a good cleaning, then run process control and color calibration.

FOR ME the remedy was taking apart and swapping out the black drum locking piece that is spring loaded and
moves the right side of the ITB unit close to the black drum..
The bad one would pivot but not do anything internal...

What it does is raise the black transfer in the ITB unit. Used to be a common problem with older color units. There was a plastic tab on the inside of the door that was supposed to keep the door from being closed if the lever was in the wrong place. Customer goons would force the door close.

I found the problem a few times with the sponge roller touching the black drum of the transfer assembly (a jumped spring or the broken spring holder), then check the hooks that fix the transfer roller mounted just below the group of melting, they often break but do not notice once opened the machine but disassembled.
