    ricoh mp2550

    Hello world!

I have a problem with a ricoh mp2550, I tried to scan but I get the "Authentication with the destination has failed..." message.
I did the firmware update but at first it didn't get accepted from the machine, at one point after some trys it did but either i get still the same message either i get sc-997 code.
I noticed that i get the sc-997 only if i make a folder at the machine for the scanner, if i go with the manual entry whithout making the folder i get only the "Authentication.." message.
Any ideas of what that might be ?

    Is it a Shared folder?
Authentication with the destination has failed usually comes down to a password or authentication for the folder being incorrect.
Also this machine is old enough that it might have an issue with scan to folder where the only option is to upgrade to a newer machine.

if you can format the hdd and update with the latest firmware in particular scanner and network, the problem could also be in sharing and password with the pc. If the machine has the fax option, try removing it.

Try the firmware again making sure you are updating ALL the files.

If you're trying to scan to anything newer than Windows 7, you won't have much luck with that machine. The 2550 only supports SMB1 and enabling that feature on workstations or servers is just asking for trouble.
The oldest model in that series that supports SMB2 or 3 is the MP 2352.
