    Swingline CX25-36 Shredder

A new customer called and asked if I can work on these and I told her most were throw aways but she said they paid like $3500 for it. Then I asked what the problem was and she said it wont shut off after last sheet is shredded. Has to be something simple paper dust, oil on entrance sensor so told her I would take a look. Figured I would check for SM so I wouldn't look more lost then I already will be ha-ha.

Is there such a thing as a service manual for these? I figured since it was a high end shredder it should be serviceable. Didn't see anything with google search except user manuals, unless I missed it. Another thought is maybe it crosses to another oem model and can use that manual.

Either way I will head out there thurs and have a look. Not much to these.

Speaking of Swingline I remember a Pana dealer who sent me to "training" back in the 80's so he could become a Swingline dealer. Went to NYC for an all day cram session on weird equip like bursters (never heard of it until then), and other weird stuff I forget now because never ended up working on any. The dealer I worked for never sold any after all that!

    Re: Swingline CX25-36 Shredder

Just googled it, there's a GBC shredder that's identical to it, GBC is part of the Acco brand, so they may be able to help, though spares for Acco shredders are minimal, it's normally dirty sensors, or the sensors fail, if the sensors have failed, then most shredders have a 2 year warranty, and the customer should contact the supplier, if under warranty, it'll more than likely be replaced. But....looking at the picture of the shredder, it actually looks like an Ideal shredder, who are normally very good at supplying parts.
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

Thanks for the info king. Think I've dealt with GBC before. Been a while but think they were very helpful.

If the sensors have gone, you'll need the board too, sometimes with GBC/Acco they come as a set

          Re: Swingline CX25-36 Shredder UPDATE

Confirmed it is same as GBC CX 25-36. Will keep in mind about the sensors. How hard are they to replace "without" service manual? Hopefully I will be able to get the GBC service manual before I head out next week.

          Update:

The customer said they blew out the sensor area and it started to shut off after last sheet like it's supposed to but then as they ran it a few more times the original issue returned and would not turn off.

          Thanks again for the help.

TBH, don't think anyone does service manuals for shredders anymore, just parts manuals.... haven't had to replace sensors on the GBC model at all, but most people cope with just switching it off when the shredding is done. You may need a 2nd person to help you lift it off its base & turn it over...then remove the bottom cover, then undo the screws holding the cutting head into the top cover, the most important bit is putting the bin full flap & springs back together properly....The job can be more hassle than it's worth....
