Tensile strength of corona wire (tungsten)

    Hi,

Can anyone kindly advise on how does the different tensile strength of the tungsten wire affect the performance of the corona unit? If I have 1 roll
of 2950N/mm2 and another roll of 2980N/mm2, are they interchangeable and can I use them on any corona unit? Thanks for the advice!

    Corona Wire

Tensile strength is not as important as other factors.

    1) type of plating (i.e. gold, oxidized gold, platinum, tungsten, stainless)
    2) wire diameter (i.e. 60um to 100um)

For the most part the manufacturer knows what type of corona wire works best. Use the same type that the manufacturer recommends.

Wire diameter mostly affects your ability to string the wire. 60um wire is easiest to string, and holds a loop well. 40um wire breaks very easily, and consequently is really frustrating. 100 to 120um wire is quite rigid. It's difficult to get a good loop and kinks quite easily.

40um to 60um wire is most often used as primary, transfer, & separation. 100um to 120um wire is usually used for grids. So my advice is, if its got the right kind of plating and you can get it strung without driving yourself crazy, go for it.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Tensile strength of corona wire (tungsten)

      Hi Black cat4866,

Thanks for your reply. My wire is tungsten coated and 40um. Hopefully
I will not be driven crazy in the restringing process.
