    opinions

Hello friends, I am publishing this to receive your opinions, I am 29 years old, I am working with production machines, digital presses since I was 20, I know very well how they work, Canon, Ricoh, Xerox and Konica Minolta brands, I use CorelDRAW, Illustrator, I know very well Well, the color compositions, I'm interested in doing color management courses, colorimetry, icc profile to complement my work, it would be a good idea to take these courses, I'm telling you because the courses are a bit expensive and I don't want to waste money, thank you

    thanks

    Re: opinions

Not sure what your question is but personally don't think it would be necessary to take those type of courses, unless you want to change professions.

If this is something that will make you better with the equipment you service then why not ask your current employer to pay for all or some of the schooling?

efi has a bunch of training about color and production with the fierys.
i found that very helpful in the field.

      The medication helps though...

correct, I think that 90% of the problems are caused by the user, most of them due to corrupt files that make us go crazy changing parts, I think it is very important to have the knowledge of the creation of the file. and their color composition..

I don't work on many production models so not sure how critical color composition, etc is. But on the 65 ppm & below models only the basic color knowledge is necessary. Especially when models without Fiery's are considered "business color".

Most of my production print users have learned the hard way, that it is just not possible to laser print every color that can be ink-printed. It's also not possible to laser print every color that the human eye can see.

This whole topic was best summarized by one of my church customers who wanted to color match neon green Pantone ink printed gloss business cards (R:135, G:178, B:64, H:83, S:163, V:178)(C:24, M:0, Y:64, K:30)(Hex: 87B240, Pantone 7737C).

After I presented this illustration, and explained the limitations of the printer, she said: " ... so Bob should just pick a color that we CAN print!"

                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.

Or you can have the owner of a printer business pull out his eye loop and scrutinze the colors under magnification! I've had this happen to me many years ago with a Bizhub C500....

When dealing with this problem and explaining what you said, the customer's response usually goes something lke this: "So, why wasn't I told that I was buying an inferior product that doesn't print colors correctly?"

If I had a dollar for every time I heard that.

Print shops are the worst. I had one print shop in particular and the owner wanted the colors to be as exact as his printing press. He would analyze the colors under a jeweler's loop. Even after explaining to him that a copier isn't a printing press, he was constantly putting in service calls. I had to tell him that he would be charged if he kept calling us out for a problem that didn't exist.

once i train the user how to use spot color matching and adjusting the color wave pattern you can come reasonably close to press but without any of the metallics or fluorescent additives that cannot be reproduced with simple cmyk toners.
