The developer unit started leaking large amounts of dev a day ago and after getting my colleague to readjust the unit and after cleaning it I had to reset the sensor through the service menu. (I didn't replace the toner completely as it is still fairly new and wasn't dangerously low.) The code that appeared at the time was c-2412. (seems to be related to the TCR sensor or possible voltage problems.) After this, the code disappeared and the print quality seems fine. However developer still seems to be leaking into the machine at a slower pace. I'm new to this so what would be the first things I should check? Thanks

Re: bizhub1250p leaking developer.
Not sure how you reset the sensor. Is it developer or toner leaking and where from? if its coming out around bushings on end of developer unit you just need new bushings. Also is your customer using OEM toner and if it is OEM does it have a H on the box it came in? A little while back Konica had a toner shortage and started making toner in a different facility . The only way the H toner would work properly is to totally remove all the toner from the machine . Ill attach the bulletin, hopefully this isnt your problem because its a real pain plus once you have it converted to run the H toner and they put regular OEM toner in you have to go through the whole process again, not funComment

Re: bizhub1250p leaking developer.
Hey sorry for late reply. No the toner currently in use on this printer does not have an H as far as I could tell. I'm sure it is developer that is leaking still. When you mean bushings then the toner would be leaking around where the gears are? The gears on the old unit are covered in developer although I'm not sure if that's typical for it being in there so long. 8.6 M on the printer rn.Comment

Re: bizhub1250p leaking developer.
Yes it has bushings on each end with seals in them. If you have a lot of developer around gears then it's probably leaking. You can try new bushings on the developer unit . That might buy you some more time on that developer unit. I'll look up recommended replacement for the developer unit when I get home.Comment

Re: bizhub1250p leaking developer.
Thanks. I know that the dev unit typically lasts around 8 million although I've heard that sometimes it'll last much longer. I have a spare dev installed now. I'll clean out the main printing segment of developer dust and see if it's fixed. I suppose it would be worthwhile to replacing the bushings on this old unit instead of buying a new one considering just how expensive they are.
attached are pages from parts manual. Item 2 is the bushings you will need a qty of 6.Comment

Re: bizhub1250p leaking developer.
Where does the developer build up in the machine? If on the gears the yea the bushing could be shot. Dirt build up on the gears will push the gears apart damaging the bushings over time. I brush and vacuum the gears on the dev tank every time I handle it. Doing that getting 16mil plus on a tank is possible.
At the bottom where the developer returns there is a metal sheet on the inside above the aluminium plate. The developer gets trapped between the steel sheet and the aluminium housing closing the path for the developer to return causing the dev to build up and drop. In the worst cases the dev will run against the drum I have had good luck with just vacuuming the developer out, be careful not to force the developer in deeper.
Check if the mag brush angle adjustment has not moved. The magnets can come loose from the shaft inside the mag roller due to age or shock.
Only pick up the tank from the handles and always place it on a flat surface when replacing the developer to avoid that bottom plate from deforming.WhateverComment

Is the dev return that thing that's underneath the dev tray when you lift it up? sort of has multiple channels leading into one?Comment

Re: bizhub1250p leaking developer.
Do you have any ware on the side of the drum ends. I have had the dev draw out of the developer tank due to that before.
Check the wast box for developer by sticking a magnetized screwdriver into a corner and see if any developer stick to the end. There should be very little to no developer in the waste toner.\WhateverComment

Re: bizhub1250p leaking developer.
No its where the developer goes back into the tank after passing over the mag roller its not named as such just used that term for explanation. Those channels are to suck or vacuum up any toner dusting coming from the developer. I make sure to clean those out at service time.

Just thought I'd update and say I installed a newer dev unit and fixed the problem. The old unit I will refurbish and use as a backup. Thanks for your helpComment
