DJ T830 needs update after replacing main PCA

I had a customer with a blue screen--I can't remember what the error was, but at the time (this was a couple months ago) I determined that they needed a main PCA. We ordered. It finally came in (thanks PartsNow, for your super speedy customer service.)

Anyway, after replacing, I get this screen:

In case you can't see images, it says, "update Required

A mandatory update must be installed before you can continue setting up printer. Insert the USB storage device provided with the printer, and then follow instructions."

The cust doesn't remember any USB drive coming with the printer.

I booted into the mfg menu and was able to turn on wifi, and try to do a firmware upgrade. But the message cam back that I have the latest firmware.

The manual says that if you replace the main pca, then you have to do a "scanner save calibrtations" from extended support, which I did, but only by going through mfg mode. I also tried OOB reset, Reflash, Safe Load, and full reset.

I go through the set up menu (choosing language and time) and then it goes back to the screen above.

Any ideas? Anyone else experience anything like this when replacing this board?

The links don't work. I can download the latest firmware, but the PDF mentions 2 'checksum files' which describes something I DON'T see in the firmware upgrade I downloaded. My next guess was to go back with a firmware USB.

Use good old Internet Explorer:

I tested and the files are there.

I've tried internet explorer, file explorer, edge, and chrome--I also tried an ftp client. I'm simply unable to see anything, or get to, that link

Are you sure this isn't something someone would need special permission for? I see pub in the url, but chrome comes back with:

You don't have permission to access /storage/nawest1/hpi.origin.cdn.level3.net/published/pub/softlib/ on this server.

Explorer tells me:

• Make sure the web address ftp://ftp.hp.com is correct

I change the ftp to https, and I get:
You don't have permission to access /storage/nawest1/hpi.origin.cdn.level3.net/published/pub/softlib/software13/designjet/t830_t730/ on this server.

What's the date code on the part you received? It should be on the sticker with the HP part number.

Those files no longer exist on HP's FTP site... they were only for 'intro units' as the document states. The printers are no longer shipped with a USB drive to update it out of the box, which is why your customer probably doesn't have it. I don't know when they stopped this but it was pretty early on.. 2015-2016.

You can try putting the firmware from hp.com's drivers section on a thumb drive but I have a feeling that won't work.

OK, weird. When I browse the FTP, under Software13 I just see 'Printers', and under that '3D'.... nothing Designjet. I even tried forcing the path and got nothing.

Lance, maybe you could download the files and dropbox them to theengel or something? I'd be very curious if those files will work for him.

Got them--thanks a heap. Here's the weird thing, your dropbox link was on page 2 of the thread, which I hadn't gotten to yet... I retried the old links and they're working fine in explorer. I'll bet what happened was that explorer didn't know what to do with the link. Opening it for the first time on my computer caused explorer to do some king of automatic update. So this morning, the next day, when I opened explorer, I was opening a undated version, and suddenly the links work fine. Although, I get a different response from Chrome now as well. It used to say I didn't have permission, now it just shows a blank screen with no errors.

Oh well, I've got the files and will try them out today.

I just learned that using a thumb drive with the latest firmware from hp.com, should work in this situation.
