    C203 - CD004 Error

    Hi,
I have an old C203 that is throwing the c-d004 code. It was working fine up until a month ago and now has this code. KM says it is obsolete and will not help me. I have tried everything including reseating the cable, dimm's and getting a different hdd from ebay. I have tried both physical and logical formats. The physical is done quick, the logical will not move from 0% even after 24 hours. In service mode, the hdd says it has a vacant space of 0, perhaps this is a partition problem? Should I try plugging it into a computer?

you can pop it in a computer, use disk management to remove all the partitions, create 1 partition and do NOT format it.
    then install in copier.
make sure the hdd is enabled in service mode and do a logical format.
verify the free space and reboot.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

      Re: C203 - CD004 Error

Would the partitions be the problem as to why there is 0 space? Other solutions point to the board as possible cause. I don't want to replace the board if I don't have to. I have tried the old HDD and it gives a CD00C code (hard drive is bad). So if it gives me 2 different codes I assume the board should be ok.

Like Synthohol posted make sure hdd shows "installed"

Is the HDD you bought on ebay exactly the same size, etc?

Did you run any of the diagnostics in State confirmation where the HDD format is?

        State Confirmation,

        Memory/HDD Adj,

        Memory Check
        Compress / Decompression Check
        JPEG check
        Memory Bus Check
        Work Memory In/Out Check
        HDD Version Up
        HDD R/W Check

I tried to look up that code on MyKonicaMinolta to figure out what exactly the code was, aside from the generic knowledge that it is a HDD code. Upon attempting to look I found that none of the older models would come up in the One Stop search any more. They must have gone through a purge of the system and removed everything that is not longer supported.

It's a good thing we have copies of all the old manuals and the most recent firmware, movie data, etc. saved on the server in the office!

I have the manual and its says that it can't access the HDD. So it's the HDD, or the cable or the board. Being that the HDD says "vacant space is 0", I'm hopeing its a partition issue.

13.00 for a new drive vs 20.+ for the adapter.
plus out of package right into copier.
                      its a no-brainer!

different is not new or was it?

ive had bad sata cables too.
the 0 vacancy shows its not seeing the drive or not set to installed.

I am not sure if it is new or used as it did not specify, it just said working. A computer store did verify that the drive works/readable. I have set the drive to "installed" in the printer many times. The original hdd throws a differernt code so I assume the board and cable are working.

i never assume anything, these boxes keep ya on your toes as they get older.
keep in mind its 10 years old, some older models security cannot be brought to todays levels.
also if its readable on a computer its not supposed to be.
once the copier formats it i think the partitions are linux? or unix? and a PC can see the partitions but shouldnt be able to access any of them because different OS language.
im just sharing my experience with HDD issues and copiers.
i just remove all partitions from it on my pc, create 1 partition but no format. shows RAW
once installed in the copier you can do a logical format only in admin mode or service mode.
ive done it the same way since the Di series. i dont think Konica ever published a guide on this so im sure mine isnt the only way.
good luck with the old girl...

oh, there is also HDD version up firmware and settings that may be doing it too.
