To enter the service mode normally you do on the numeric keyboard "STOP" 00 and then "STOP" 01, but on a customer's machine at the first press of the red button "STOP" the machine makes a double beep and ending the sequence does not take me anywhere

Are you on the counter page before entering Stop, 0,0, stop, 0,1? Menu, counter then stop 00 stop 01.
FYI copier will beep as you press the buttons, disregard.
Admin pass is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 or 1-8 two timesComment

side note, if there is a print, scan or fax in the active job queue you will not be able to enter service mode.
in those cases you can reboot into trouble reset mode and enter service from there thus avoiding a queued job.We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

A lot of these machines are starting to have issues with SSD boards. Bad ssd board wont allow you into service mode and there are very few boards left. These machines are end of life.Comment

Procedure (from main power switch ON)1. Open the front door.2. Turn the main power switch on while pressing the power key.After a short beep sound is made once, release the power key and close the front door. Wait to display the self diagnosis (full check) screen.3. After displaying the self diagnosis screen, press the start key.The self diagnosis (full check) is started.The result of the diagnosis is displayed for every item. (OK/NG)4. After finished the diagnosis for all items, turn the main power switch off.5. If there is an item displayed NG, investigate the NG item and take countermeasuresWe know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
