I have a customer that says she cannot copy while faxing. I can't seem to find out if it's a setting. Aren't these dual function?

Re: M3540idn copying/faxing
Send: Batch fax allows the system to NOT redial when scanning multiple fax transactions to the same number.
Receive: Batch stores all pages in memory and prints when finished.
Neither seem to be of use. Sounds like memory.
What is Fax Direct Transmission setting? Turning it on avoids some memory usage. (waits until connection to scan and send)

Re: M3540idn copying/faxing
These are multifunction, but not multitasking machines. Faxing out shouldn't limit copying/printing. Incoming faxes will do that, but you can turn on inbound fax routing to circumvent the printing of faxes, and allowing it to print/copy while it is receiving.
It can be an issue for medical places that receive 60-80 page faxes.Comment

Re: M3540idn copying/faxing
I updated the firmware and they called today and said they are getting calls from doctors offices that they can't send the faxes. I have faxed them 3 times without any problem. I think the hospitals and doctors are faxing them from a computer. I talked to Kyocera a long time ago and the said to turn error correcting off and slow it down to 9600 baude which I did. I think it may have something to do with their phone system which has had problems in the past but I don't have a clue of what they should tell the phone people.Comment

Re: M3540idn copying/faxing
There's a document on KDA that outlines all of the VOIP settings for faxes. I would make all these changes that dumb down the machine. After that, it's on the phone provider to use the correct codec etc. to allow the machine to successfully transmit. Disabling error correction is not recommended as it will result in partial or incomplete faxes.Comment

Re: M3540idn copying/faxing
Had this same issue on the same model a few years ago. After a lot of trial and error, I had the phone guy come in and he monitored the call from one of the places that the faxes would not receive. He said the call came in and the machine picked up the call and then terminated the call. As a last effort, I changed the cable out on the machine from a 4 line cord to a two line cord and have not heard from that customer again. Something to try that is easy to overlook. Would not have believed it if I had not seen it myself. Hope this helps.Comment
