    mp 4054/5055 CURLING PAPER

I HAVE 6 OF THESE MACHINES IN THE FIELD, ONLY TWO ARE CURLING TO PAPER, IVEE TRIED THE FUSER REPLACEMENT, PAPER SET THE PLAIN PAPER 1, THESE IS NO CHOICE FOR PLAIN PAPER TWO... LIKE MY MP C6004, IF THERE IS WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
OR IS THERE ANOTHER SOLUTION?IS IT IN THE EXIT ROLLER ASSMBLY AFTER THE FUSER? LIKE THE COLOR MACHINES THESE ARE SWITCHED WITH FIN OR NO FIN, THESE BOTH HAVE INTERNAL FINS, THE ONES THAT DONT CURL DONT HAVE FINS

If they are in a high humidity location drum and tray heater will help.

Go into service mode and drop the fuser temp about 10 degrees.

SP1113 set it to the middle choice (no curl) it will definitely make a difference unless paper has a lot of moisture, wavy before even putting it paper tray

          I've done 1113..set to on
I only see fuser print temp..I've adjusted this as well
is there another fuser temp for copy?

not familiar with that for just copy
they used the same paper since delivery, client says
it's done it since, doesn't on the color machine
          it's a kmc364..

is these a thinner paper setting?other than plain 1

Where are you looking? What you want is not paper type. You want paper thickness. It is not in any of the printed manuals. You have to use the online manual available at Ricoh-USA, or for those not in the US the URL appropriate for your region. In the online manual search "Changing Paper Thickness" for instructions. For guidance on paper thickness based on paper weight, g/m2. see the PCL 6 driver paper types.

One other thing, the temperature of the fusing unit as set in SP mode changes when you change the paper thickness so instead of increasing the SP setting, just try a thicker paper setting.

              Long shot here...

Does the machine have a bridge unit or had one at any point? We found recently a couple of machines that had bridge units installed and then removed. The black rollers that are included in the bridge unit (the flatter ones) were not swapped back to the original ones (more rounded) causing a paper curl.

We are also in South Texas so we are very familiar with humidity issues and curled paper.

Im thinking this is the case?, i did have a c4503 i had to change out, from behind the fuser, is this where your talking about?
Both these units have the small internal finisher installed...if this makes a difference in the bridge unit rollers?

If it has an internal finisher there is no bridge unit, but could have the different rollers. Not sure. If you take the internal finisher out you can see them and remove them. Yes, it is after the fuser, but you get at them from the internal tray 1 area. They just snap in.

I had the same issue and you can't really do a lot since ricoh was cutting costs and left out the de-curling rollers. Lowereing the temps might help a little but can also have side effects. The best approach is doing a test with some different paper brands - I've noticed quite some differences in curling tendency.

Exit rollers should be checked of course and you can modify the internal tray if the paper does "roll out" like ancient papyrus rolls.

FYI i did replace the fuser with a fuser from a machine that was not curling the paper, and the paper came out curled...

It'll be great to know if this is going to fix digicor's issue, too.

Themopile is not the "click frog" thermo-fuse but some sort of contactless temperture reader.
Sounds logic that a dirty sensor might lead to higher fuser temps wich can increase curling.
Hard to imagine that the issue totally goes away though.
