    Firmware update tool

Hope everyone is having a good day. I have been using the update tool for a while now with no issues. However, I have a machine that the tool will not recognize. I am wondering if there is a setting on the machine that is causing this. Anyone run into this?

This can happen if your Ricoh device is on customised firmware.

Update the firmware via SD card then future updates using the tool should work.

      x2 on this Mika.
I've run into it a couple of times myself. You need to overwrite the module(s) that have custom firmware (typically System/copy) with any version of the regular files and you should be good to go.

I totally agree with the custom firmware suggestion.

However, the RFUT does not work with all models.

Which model is it failing with?

Are any of the services like FTP disabled? The tool needs a few services enabled to connect to the machine.

IT could also be a custom SNMP community where the tool is looking for the default public community while it's been set to something else on the machine.

C4504ex. I looked at the firmware part numbers, none of them began with the letter C. Ftp and all that stuff is active. Thanks for the responses, I'm not going to worry about.

              Hey Mika.
With that model, why not just run the F/W update in SP mode and/or turn on auto updates with SP5-886-111?
              Just a suggestion

hi, it could be a trivial thing like disabling some network protocol on the mc, or the wim access password has been changed, sometimes it happens that I find user:admin and psw:admin, instead of the blank password, just specify during the RFUT wizard

Use package_01in an sd card. Set 5886-02 to 1.
This should update the firmware and put you back to using RFUT in the future

I think I am wrong on this one. My suggestion above is for IMC series only. My colleague called me up for an 04 series machine but couldn't find the package_01 firmware

I'm having a similar issue with a MP C4504, the RFUT says the machine is on the latest version, it updated java but nothing else. When trying to scan to SMB it fails, leading me to believe it needs an update, is there a way to download the pkg ? I know Ricoh changed the way dealers logged in, and I'm an independent service engineer, so i'm not locked to any brands

As I suggested on Page 1 try doing it over the internet: SP mode / Update firmware

Service mode SP5886-111 set to 1, reboot.

Then it will update by itself, give it a day or two to do it. From then on it will stay up to date.
It may not update the finisher or ADF, but that's no big deal.
