ricoh 1045 gremlins?

ok got a 1045 ricoh ran flawlessly for 6 mo.customer runs anywhere from 10,000. copies per month to 10,000. a week.he runs a job maybe 500 to 1,000 copies runs great no jams.comes back the next day jams right away.after multiple jams starts running again all day no jams.comes in next day jams . jam hist says fuser exit jam. paper jams in multiple copy mode not in single copy.does not matter if duplexing or not .RR feed clutch and tires.cleaned sensors rr fuser unit.no varying reg visible on copy.seems like a timing issue.so it will jam up then for no apparent reason will start running again.

When was the pressure roller last replaced? Have you turned on fuser idling?

Hi Sir, listen take off your scanner unit, easy, take off cover on top of the fuser to access the top of the fuser exit, take it out, easy, on this assy there are two solenoides that have a cushion that is forcing the fork gate to get stuck, take them out and clean the sticky tape off, put it back in and you back in business.

thats more likely to happen in duplex, and in the first morning copies.

The PDF is not for that machine but its almost the same, its just for you to locate the two cushions, #9 on the rear side

Good luck,
Keep well.

thats going to cost you another fishing run.

Theres always a Paul looking after a Paul, LOL
Oh forgot to say the machine is going to be a little noisy, no problem if your client is a little def, hehe

the machine will work no problem, if you wish just order new cushions and go back and put them in.

by the way, I´ve got dogs that look like gremlins, hehehe
French bulldogs, google it.

Ditto the solenoids, also the paper sensor inside the bridge unit is a culprit. BTW the 1045 is a gremlin!!!!!!

If you haven't done it yet, yank the scanner assembly off, like iMind says, and clean & inspect all solenoids, sensors and inspect gate operation. This is an oddball area of the copier that rarely gets looked at by techs.

You will probably find your problem in there. This fixes a lot of weird fuser-jam problems.

i echo sentiments on gate solenoids, especially if duplexing, but i believe there was a tech bulletin regarding fuser exit sensor. also maight clean relay clutch if you have not yet. good luck

Also look at the top of the fuser unit, there is a cutout that the exit sensor looks at - this gets dusty.
