Self-righteous Canadians need to heal themselves. Nova Scotia uses nearly 80% CO2 generating fuels in electricity production and over 60% fossil fuels for home heating.
Heal thyself:
Despite three decades of effort, Canada's carbon emissions have risen 20 per cent since 1990, the country remains unprepared for climate disasters and subsidies for the oil and gas sector have not delivered promised emission reductions, say new reports from the federal government's chief environmental watchdog.
That damning verdict applies not only to past Liberal and Conservative governments but to the current government led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
"Canada was once a leader in the fight against climate change. However, after a series of missed opportunities, it has become the worst performer of all G7 nations since the landmark Paris Agreement on climate change was adopted in 2015," said Environment and Sustainable Development Commissioner Jerry V. DeMarco in a media statement."Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn" - Benjamin Franklin

My observation is that you do the same from the other side.

The numbers you quoted illustrate Nova Scotia's rapid embrace of wind power, natural gas and hydro-electric power away from fossil fuels. Heat pumps are hard to come by because the demand is so high as people want to remove their oil furnaces.
Actually, Nova Scotia's electrical utility is currently max-xed out on the number of windmills it is permitted to build. You cannot drive down any main highway in Nova Scotia and not see a wind turbine every 30 minutes.
If you want to consume a steady diet of far to extreme right nonsense published by people seeking to exploit alternate reality to make money that is your choice.
... and, yes, Canada, as a whole has a long way to go to fight climate change. That is why starting a year ago a new "carbon tax" was added to every source of energy purchased. Most consumers are eligible for a carbon tax rebate on their annual income tax returns.
... 25% of all pollution in Canada is caused by the petroleum industry.Comment

Re: Nope, never has been caused by man
... for decades Nova Scotia suffered from the effect of downwind acid rain proven to have been caused by large American industrial polluters. Much of our lakes and rivers were polluted and recreational fishing was discouraged because of the carcinogens found in that acid rain.

According to Nova Scotia Power, 30 per cent of its electricity now comes from renewable energy. In 2022 it will be 60 per cent, and by 2030 will be over 80 per cent.
The Nova Scotia government recently passed legislation enshrining in law the goal of supplying 80 per cent of the province's electricity using renewables by 2030.
Nova Scotia has a growing population of just over 1M people fueled by immigration from across Canada plus India, China, the Philippines, Korea and the United Kingdom. The provincial capitol, Halifax, is Canada's second fastest growing municipality.Comment

Re: Do you believe that Climate Change is real and caused by mankind?
When you reply-quote yourself, the tin-foil hat starts showing.
All I read was the same policy maker excuses one hand uses, while the other hand does things like building the Keystone XL Pipeline and wanting to sell a bunch of that good ol' petroleum...
Great references talking about all the things Canada is trying, in response to an article saying they have failed which faults both the left and the right.
Is that why you have to pick a side in our country, because you only have one in yours?"Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn" - Benjamin Franklin

I honestly don't understand the rights fear of information. All he gave was information. It doesn't matter if YOU believe it. Information is not your enemy.Comment

There you go again. I'm on the right. I'm not scared of information. It's you that's scared. And when I give you the information one of a few things are gonna happen. You're not gonna answer. Or you'll call me a racist of homophobe, or you'll run and hide.
Let's try it.

Then why do the global warming crowd oppose all information that does not agree with their talking points? It sounds like you liberals are the ones afraid of the truth.Comment

Re: Do you believe that Climate Change is real and caused by mankind?
I did not state any particular belief, only the fact that a scientific debate is being used as a political axe, and what you portray as information I see as thinly veiled rhetoric and hypocrisy.
The fact is the world is addicted to carbon because it fuels the commerce that drives the economies of the world. Our problem isn't how we heat our homes or fuel our cars, because these are targets we are actively improving upon. We have to keep warm, and we have to get to work.
However the sector which contributes at least as much to CO2 emissions and which has little option for improvement is TRANSPORTATION, driven by commerce.
You see I do not have to quote from some article, I can summarize what I have read and observed, most recently in PBS's "Great Electric Airplane Race" regarding the challenges of divesting the airline industry of fossil fuels.
Whether the left or right is in control, the uses and mitigations of carbon-fuels will continue as a matter of capitalism and consumerism. It is the machine that sustains us and the only vote you can make that counts is with your dollar. I do hope those Carbon credits you pay stops the burning of forests for palm oil production.
The real enemy today is consumerism, and all the waste it generates. During the COVID economic slowdown, global CO2 emissions paused their precipitous rise. This is what it takes....less crap being bought, less crap being shipped all over the world, less crap needing energy to produce, less crap thrown away, less jobs making and selling that crap.
Too many are not willing or even able to burden that cost. Remember that quote from The Big Short, "For every 1% the unemployment rate goes up, 40,000 people die"
I own stock in an electric battery company btw, so does that make me a leftist, or a righty?

Bless you and I agree with you that information is to be sought where ever possible, but it must be filtered through the lense of how it is crafted and what message it seeks to convey.
