Nobody wants to be killed because someone can buy a military style weapon with 30 round magazines to killed people with.

Listen, idiot, in a gun free zone only the shooter is going to have a gun. And if it takes 10 minutes for the closest police officer to get to the incident, innocent people are going to die. Without the forced gun free zone, there is a high chance that there is a legally armed citizen present in which case the threat is eliminated with often 0 innocent citizens dying.

Maybe someone should have told him that the shooter used an AR15 style rifle, to be specific a DDM4 rifle. As a rifle, it is only available in 5.56 NATO, the same as the M16 or a varmint rifle. It is a 22 caliber round.

As for a 9mm being a high caliber weapon, it is only 0.35433070866" in diameter. That is smaller than a colt 1911 45, 38 special or a 40 caliber revolver.
