‘Enter At Your Own Risk!’: Texas Police Group Puts Up Billboards Warning Those Entering Austin That City Defunded Police

People entering Austin, Texas, from Interstate 35 will see two billboards warning them that the city defunded police.
One billboard says, “Warning! Austin defunded police. Enter at your own risk!” CBS News reported. The board is referring to the Austin city council’s vote last month to cut the police budget.

The second billboard reads, “Limited support next 20 miles,” the outlet reported.
The billboards were put up by the Texas Municipal Police Association, which announced its campaign Wednesday on Facebook:

Today, TMPA released two billboards (pictured below), along Interstate 35, entering Austin, intended to raise public awareness that Austin is a defunded city. This reckless act, a political stunt by the city council pandering to the radical left, will do nothing but endanger the people of Austin.
As the largest police association in Texas, it is our duty and responsibility to stand up for the brave men and woman of the APD, as well as the other law enforcement agencies with jurisdiction within the city limits which will have less of APDs resources to depend on, and to raise public awareness of the dangers of defunding not just Austin, but any city across the U.S.


Texas’ top politicians praised the campaign late last week. Lieutenant Gov. Dan Patrick called attention to the “great new billboards” and included a picture and the hashtag #BackTheBlue.

CBS Austin previously reported that Abbott asked all Texans and candidates for political office to sign a pledge against defunding the police.
“I sign this Texas Backs the Blue Pledge to oppose any efforts to defund the police and to show my support for the brave law enforcement officers who risk their lives to protect and serve. Defunding our police departments would invite crime into our communities and put people in danger. That is why I pledge to support any measure that discourages or stops efforts to defund police departments in Texas,” the pledge states. “Our law enforcement officers have our backs every single day, and we need to show them that Texans have their backs. #TexasBacksTheBlue”

Law Enforcement Today—a police-centric news outlet—tweeted in response to the St. Petersburg Police Department’s announcement of the change by saying, “Not every 911 call starts violent — but many of them end that way. This is a catastrophe waiting to happen… and it’s spreading across America.”

Let's follow your logic. You say that BLM is mostly peaceful. You say that the police are racist and target black people. There are millions of interactions with cops and minorities every day. The vast majority are just fine. Yet, LeBron James and folks like you say that police are HUNTING black men in the street. Yes, LeBron said cops are hunting black people.

I have never Burned Looted Murdered.. I didn't have that 'plush' of a life. Anything but the clothes on my back I EARNED when I was young. I didn't listen to people telling me " You can't do that" because that made me more focused ON DOING IT!!!

Life is NOT 'free ride' and for the people that worked .. earned .. sweated to get what they have APPRECIATE what they have even more. MOST young people have been handed things all their lives... didn't have to pay any retribution when they fucked up... Mommy n Daddy just "fixed" the problem. The ONE AND ONLY time I got arrested ( speeding/evading ) I had to stay in jail over night.. pay my OWN fines.. Did my own community service hours.. and when dad picked me up at 0900 from the jail, he had parked the car at the FURTHEST parking space from the jail door, everytime I took a step I got his shoe in my ass. Oh yeah.. I also had to buy a new HP uniform because the cop got out of his car slipped ..fell ... tore his shirt n pants.

But it was a fun race.... and I crossed the line before my buddy did.
