Taxes are going up. Maybe not soon, but the mushrooming national debt will eventually leave Washington no choice but to hike taxes. And the longer we wait, the more it will hurt.


The Congressional Budget Office recently forecast annual federal deficits of more than $1 trillion for 2020, and each of the next 10 years. By 2030, CBO says, the deficit will hit $1.7 trillion. Economists generally think a fiscal deficit of around 3% of GDP is healthy and manageable. U.S. deficits over the next decade will average 4.8% of GDP.


Annual deficits spiked during the Great Recession, when tax receipts plunged and stimulus spending soared. The $1.4 trillion deficit in 2009, at the nadir of the recession, was the worst on record.


Deficits fell sharply as the economy recovered, however, and hit a post-recession low of $442 billion in 2015. Then they ticked up again, mostly because of runaway health spending on Medicare and Medicaid. Then came the Trump tax cuts, which went into effect in 2018.


Those tax cuts pushed corporate tax revenue to the lowest levels ever as a portion of federal revenue. Tax revenue from individuals has gone up slightly, because of economic growth. But it would have gone up more without the Trump tax cuts, or with cuts limited to middle- and lower-income workers, say. The twin effect of depressed federal revenue and health care costs growing faster than the economy are driving those trillion-dollar deficits.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stood in front of microphones on Thursday and declared that if President Donald Trump is acquitted by the Senate (a likely scenario), he will not actually be acquitted.
Pelosi was responding to a reporter who had asked what she would do in the case of the president’s acquittal.
The speaker stealthily avoided the question.
“We are right now prayerful and hopeful that the Senate will have the courage to hear the truth about the President’s action, and then we’ll see what we do next,” she said, according to a transcript on her website.

So WTF? PencilNeck thinks he's KING and NanNan is now the Queen? (or do we have two queens) that think they run the country?


But when another reporter asked a similar question, Pelosi had one of her famous temper tantrums.
“When this is over, do you think that President Trump will be chastened and understand that he’s got a Congress watching him? Or will he be emboldened because the Senate will have acquitted him?” the reporter asked.

“Well, he will not be acquitted. You cannot be acquitted if you don’t have a trial, and you don’t have a trial if you don’t have witnesses and documentation and that,” Pelosi replied.
“I would hope that the Senators, if it comes to a tie, or if there’s a question of hearing testimony or receiving documents, would leave it up to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court – Republican‑appointed, in a Republican majority court.
“I would think that they would have confidence in the Chief Justice of the United States. That’s really his title. And that’s interesting to me — that they’re afraid of breaking a tie with a Chief Justice of the United States.

WELL we all know what a flipflop we had with J. Roberts on the ACA ... don't we?

The dems should have done their due diligence in the house investigation (where they have sole power). If they wouldn’t have rushed it through, maybe they could have called on certain people to testify. If they weren’t so blinded by hate for the President, they could have tapped the breaks a little and let the house investigation continue a little longer (not that it would’ve helped them).
The Senate did the right thing by not bowing to house dems or giving in on letting the house control the process where the senate has sole power (just like the dems had sole power in their investigation and fucked it up majorly).

It IS however the duty of the House to provide DUE PROCESS (under the constitution) to the defense.. they DID NOT!
