Trump to governors: Try getting respirators for coronavirus patients yourselves
Governors across the United States are scrambling to make sure their health care systems have enough respirators to help people diagnosed with the coronavirus, but President Trump surprised them Monday by telling them not wait for the federal government, The New York Times reports.


"Respirators, ventilators, all of the equipment — try getting it yourselves," Trump reportedly told the governors during a conference call.


He did say the federal government "will be backing" the states, but, for now, they should try to resolve the issue on their own. "Point of sales, much better, much more direct if you can get it yourself," he said.


Beyond that, Trump reportedly stayed on course by sounding optimistic amid the pandemic, promising the governors "we're going to get it remedied and hopefully very quickly." Trump has invoked some strict travel measures since the outbreak began, but his critics have argued he's been slow to grasp the severity of the situation, leaving the most intense measures to the states.

If you watched his news conference you would know that when asked about that “statement”, he said if you can get it through “normal channels” faster/ cheaper then they should go ahead and do that.
The logistics involved with the government procuring these items may take a little longer than through “normal supply channels”.
Its not a matter of the government “not providing these items”. They are providing and will continue to provide them as fast as possible.

This is just another attempt by the media and sorry-ass people like you to twist the President’s words.

What is the death toll on Italy? They shutdown borders after us and had their first reported case AFTER us..
But hey! THAT'S socialized medicine for you.
So since you consider yourself a biohazard/infectious expert what would have been your fix for this?
China knew Dec 15 2019 they had a breakout.
They informed the world in Feb 2020 right?
It's now March... how long have our borders been closed... people working on the issue.
As MOST people that have recovered ( 2 I know of were 65+ ) said it wasn't as bad as the media had portrayed.
Yes other cuntries aren't fairing as well. But you have to look at THEIR societies and lifestyles to see if theirs aren't as hygienic as the germaphobes in the USA.
