You are right,does it not work both ways. Trump gets new information and changes his stance,but he will just get badmouthed. For everybody else it is like you said.

Of course it works both ways, however trump was still dismissing the danger even after the cases in the US started to rise exponentially and experts were warning that things were going to get worse.
trump is pretending that he knows about this stuff, while he actually knows very little about it.
And the problem with him faking knowledge is that some people believe whatever comes out of him mouth.

Like I've said before, this whole "pandemic" and the lockdowns, and the destruction of Americans' lives due to job loss/ depression/ economy tanking is how they will try to convince people that the "Socialist mechanism" will work better. They will use this "pandemic" as ammo for as long as they can to attempt to infringe on our rights even more than they have been.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who receives an annual salary of $174,000 and whose remarks this month about the United States have engendered an incendiary response, urged Americans to refuse to go back to work once the economy begins to open up.
"When we have this discussion about going back or reopening, I think a lot people should just say no — we’re not going back to that,” according to the Washington Times, which added that Ocasio-Cortez continued, “We’re not going back to working 70-hour weeks just so that we can put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.”
