You finally realise you're a Copier-Tech when you start polishing dry the pyrex glass lids on the pots and pans to get clear light conductivity....

I've seriously done that... The missus said "what are you doing" ,uh ,what, oh!. ...You need a holiday.

It looks like a NP 6050. Those had the control panel that bumped out a little. Also, on the finisher there is a small access panel that allowed for manual stapling or moving the bins up/down. If I remember correctly, that panel was not available on the bigger finisher for the NP 6030.
My first guess was a Canon too. So google to the rescue and about an hour later, success. NP6050 with attachments.

You just did something that I have a very BAD habit of doing. Getting overly obsessive about finding out the answer to something, and spending hours figuring out, with nothing in return for your time or troubles other than finally achieving the correct answer!

              Very true!

If the copier in question was a Minolta or Konica Minolta, I would have been able to identify it but since it didn't look like one, I didn't even try. All I've ever worked on is Minolta and Konica Minolta so I didn't really care what it was.

I don't know if most of us are the same way, but in any movie or TV show, I always try to identify the machine and if it's not the brand I'm familiar with, I don't even give it a second thought.

It absolutely does! I think that's why I continue to do it, even though I KNOW that I shouldn't be wasting my time on it.

I was watching American Made and this copier was in it. Time line is around '81 any ideas?

Easy, Its a Mita 900D. I had 6 of them in my basement at one time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Nice, I was thinking Mita. It's a little before my time.

More like the Copystar 500D version of the Mita.

Wow, I remember those rubber covers on machines from that era. What is the metal guide for above it?

It prevents the cover from flopping all the way over. And if you left originals on the lid, then raised it up ... not all of the originals fell on the floor. Back then I could lift one of those by myself. I don't think I could do it any more. =^..^=
