I may have already posted this, but it is still one of my favorite.

This goes back a few years. A customer called and said her meter won't work. I said, that shouldn't keep your copier from working. She just kept insisting that the meter won't work. Finally, after more of this banter, It struck me: She is in a southern town, with a southern accent, and her copier is a MITA. (Palm slap to my forehead)

        The scans are shrinking?!

In Adobe, they weren't setting the page size right when they were printing, and in Adobe they didn't know how to Zoom.

"What do you mean, you don't carry toner in your car?!?!"

Customer complaining that prints are not coming out correctly - entire page is black.
Come to find that customer print job is a reverse image - entire background black with white text - look in the machine and find black colored paper loaded.
Customer couldn't understand why copier couldn't print the color white.

Re: What is the dumbist customer comment/question you've heard?

Client called for a 'VERY URGENT!' intervention.

He couldn't scan any more to his mailbox. So I get there and sure enough, he couldn't scan. It was just a minor problem, but then the akward bit came.

So I told the customer that the scan to mail function should work again, when he says

"It's about time! I need to urgently mail these documents!"

So I see him opening a word file on his pc, print the file and then scan that document to himself so he could forward the mail.

So naturally, I ask him why doesn't he just mail the original document?

              "You can do that?"

For people like this, you just need to pack the machine up and take it back, they need to go back to stamps and envelopes.

Minolta used to have white toner for the 4230/4232 series...looked great on black stock!

I had in my office until one year ago a EP-4233 only for that white toner. Never used it any more since 5 years or so. 2 months's after I put it into the dumpster I needed to make stickers on transparencies to be used on black machines........

Not working with some other larger brands, do they not come standard with an inverse fill option that will flip the white portions of a document to black and the black to white? That would create a like effect on them... I don't ever recall looking for a feature like that on the various Ricoh and Canons I see, but I know it comes on the Sharps...

Well naturally. I would hope and pray to the copier gods that if someone were to attempt to use that feature they would have enough common sense to be using plain white stock, but we're all familiar with how the end-user operates...

Re: What is the dumbist customer comment/question you've heard?

I had posted this in the Sh*T end users say thread.... over a year ago.. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I have been asked this by customers but this time it came from my own daughter. Boy was I disappointed that day.

Dad, My friend wanted to print invitations but nothing's printing out.
Hmmm Does it print on regular paper?
Yes. But when she puts in the black paper nothing prints.
Black paper????.... Is she trying to do white fonts.
                                Yes.
Daddy has to put you on hold for a minute... I laughed for 5 minutes straight.
I answer her question with: Turns out you need a special print cartridge to print white.
                                Why is that?
Sigh. Honey the white on paper is the absence of ink.
                                So it won't work then?
                                No.
                                Thanks dad. Bye.
