Re: Which was the BEST copier ever?
No the DC1705 was the one that had moving platen and doc feeder...the 1205 was stationary top but did offer a doc feed that sucked...the rollers that contacted platen glass were sponge and skew was adjusted by doc feed height...never worked right.IBM, Mita, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Kyocera, HyPAS, Canon, Oce, Samsung, HP, TEO IP PBX/Unified Communications, Comptia Network+ Comptia PDI+ CertificationsComment

Re: Which was the BEST copier ever?
So back around Thanksgiving time, my theoretical brother-in-law had nothing better to do than to "invite" himself over for a very long stay at my house and bug the hell out of me...
...so being very annoyed, bored, and looking for an escape, I retreated to my private office and started going through every single post in this thread...
...I decided to put all the information in a spreadsheet to create an easy to see analysis by brand and by model number of the "best copiers ever." The results of which are attached.
A few ground rules apply: I only used model letters and numbers, so no words like Aficio or Imagerunner. I didn't include any spaces or hyphens to get a more accurate count. If a brand was by itself prior to a merger or bankruptcy, I used that, e.g., Olivetti, and Mita instead of Kyocera Mita; although some pure Mita machines may be in with Kyocera Mita, and so on. Finally for a vote to count it had to be very clear that the poster of the message was in favor of the machine. So if someone said I like the Canon IR3300 and the next poster says me too but didn't mention it by make or model, it still got two votes because it was obvious.

Maybe this next holiday season I'll retreat to my office and do one for the worst copier ever!Comment

Re: Which was the BEST copier ever?
FYI, VQCIII is a 3M e-stat copier. Awesome spreadsheet work. Thanks!

Re: Which was the BEST copier ever?
Thanks for the info.
I was thinking about having him do some painting but I figured knowing my luck he'd probably like it and want to stick around longer...of course at least I wouldn't have to paint then.
My short term solution has typically been to get him a cheap case of beer. Since he's usually slightly intoxicated by the time he arrives; one case and a few hours and eventually he passes out...I don't usually encourage these kinds of things...mind you, but hey.

Re: Which was the BEST copier ever?
I know Ricoh,Sharp, and Toshiba, been doing this since 84. The high volume Sharp mxm850-1100 are the best. We have one with 14 mil on one and still runs like a clock, stretch the pms and get over 1 mil out of the drums. The high voume ricoh mp1350 (18 mil.) I like as well but this customer has the gbc option which tapers reliablity quite a bit. any gbc pro's out there I would like to hear from you! Toshiba was hard to beat with their last analog stuff in the 90s.Comment

Re: Which was the BEST copier ever?
Toshiba was impossible to beat in the 90's. Worked for Lanier starting in the late 90's and both their 6540 and 6735 were tanks - couldn't kill one. Don't know what that translates to in Toshiba numbers, but we'd still have some running if we could still get parts.
The 73 series machines weren't so good though (again, don't know Toshiba numbers, but last generation before digital) How many fuser drive belts did you spend an hour replacing in the 45ppm?
And then the digital revolution... Toshiba was late to market with digital, they were feature poor, pitiful user interface, and had more than their fair share of problems. We went with Ricoh, which also had their share of problems at first, but the users liked them a lot better.73 DE W5SSJComment
