There should be work requirements! the only way to get some of these people just looking for a free ride. A lot of them work as hard as they would at a job just figuring out every way they can get all the freebies out there for them.Comment

Most people that I know that are on Food Stamps are losers. When I think about these losers...a quote comes to mind:
Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Social Security and Medicare: Biden once offered bill similar to Scott plan
Here is what Biden wanted to do:
President Biden as a first-term senator in 1975 introduced a bill that would have limited budget authority for all federal programs to between four and six years, which experts say would have required new legislation to fund Medicare, Social Security and other federal programs.Comment

That's the second point in the republican playbook. Keep poor people in their place. The first point in the republican playbook is to keep rich people rich.Comment

Contrary to what the left believes, the minimum wage is not set by the government at any level, it is set by the market. If a job is not worth the minimum wage then those tasks get redistributed to other workers and that job goes away. McDonalds is a great example of this. They are currently moving towards automating as much as they can, starting with ordering, the one nearest my house will not take orders at the counter, with few exceptions. You MUST order at a kiosk and pay there if using a card (no bill changer yet, but it's in a bad neighborhood, a lady shot the place up because she wasn't happy with her fries). Automating the fryer line is trivial for any automation engineer, so that would include 2-3 jobs at peak times. There are machines that will custom make burgers available now for $35-50KUS, there goes 3-4 more jobs. With a current crew at peak times being 10-12 people, salaries for the crew (not including taxes or other costs) would be $150-180 /hour. Replace those 10-12 with 4 people to maintain the equipment making $20-25/hour and you save a minimum of 50% on labor costs. As a bonus the equipment won't call out sick and incorrect orders will virtually disappear as the customer will be the one entering the order, it will be their fault if the screw up, so less waste. Now you have 6-8 people that are unemployed making the true minimum wage of $0, as set by the market. Simple facts. not subject to anyones hurt feelings.Comment

That goes for anyone who thinks that minimum wage laws are good idea. They will only accelerate the process, leading to more unemployment, particularly in the population that those laws are intended to help.Comment

Apparently, the troll wants to circumvent progress (automation) merely to give jobs to high school dropouts and potheads.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment
