That's not that long ago. To be best of my knowledge no comedian in the USA has ever been dragged thru the court system simply because our government found it offensive. Canada is a joke when it comes to freedom.

Trudeau is responsible. But "some folks' refuse to criticize.

In March 2023, there were almost two million visits to food banks across Canada, representing a 32 per cent increase compared to March 2022, and a 78.5 per cent increase compared to March 2019, which is the highest year-over-year increase in usage ever reported. Oct 25, 2023

It's also funny how some people fail to mention that a right wing conservative government was in power when this comedian was charged and a centrist liberal government was in power when charges were dropped. Some people are so eager to spread their hate that they fail to check the details.

Dude, you told me that you supported the comedian being charged with a crime for telling a joke. GTFOH.

            Re: Canada is disgusting

Trudeau built this. Yet a certain person refuses to criticize Trudeau.

After eight years of Justin Trudeau, housing across Canada has become more and more unaffordable and the problem is continuing to worsen. The August 2023 Rent Report from Rentals.ca shows that rents continue to rise in nearly every major market across the country with no sign of letting up.

Nationally, rents are up 8.9% in the last year with an increase of 1.8% in just the last month. In the last two years, average rents in Canada have shot up 21%. This amounts to an extra $354 per month or an extra $4248 each year.

Many of Canada’s cities are seeing increases substantially greater than the average. The rent for an average one bedroom apartment in Vancouver has seen an increase of 16.2%, in Toronto 13.4%, in Mississauga 20% and in Brampton an astonishing 25.5%.

In fact, after eight years of Justin Trudeau the average rent in Canada has doubled and according to Rentals.ca now sits at $2078.

It isn’t just renters that are hurting. Since 2015 the average monthly mortgage payment has increased 137%, while the minimum down payment for the average home has increased 126%, raising the barriers for any renter who wants to achieve the dream of home ownership.

After years of telling Canadians that he was going to make homes more affordable, Justin Trudeau now claims that housing is not his responsibility as he seeks to run away from his failed record.

My Night in a Quarantine Hotel

I winced. I had had at least a half-dozen negative coronavirus tests during a month in Europe, where I had traveled to London in May to help The Times cover the fighting between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza. What a cruel irony it would be, I thought to myself, if I contracted the coronavirus in the elevator of a quarantine hotel back home.

In line with government rules, I had prebooked and prepaid a three-day stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Toronto Airport at a nonrefundable cost of 1,054.74 Canadian dollars, which included three meals (more upmarket quarantine hotels can cost closer to 2,000 Canadian dollars for three days).

I would be liberated if the test I took after I landed came back negative, allowing me to book my connecting flight to my home in Montreal, where I would spend the remainder of a 14-day quarantine.

I'll bet trudeau is personally going to every landlord in Canada and coercing them to increase their rent prices. I'll also bet he is personally taking a cut of the higher rent prices.
How dumb is it to actually believe the leader of a country has personal control of rent, gasoline and food prices? That's like saying trumpy was responsible for the covid pandemic simply because he was the leader at the time. Pure insanity!!

I have said that I dislike trudeau many times but I still don't believe he is powerful enough to affect these items

I don't blame you for not understanding. You've proven time and again that:

                  a. It's beyond your paygrade.

                  or

                  b. you refuse to criticize Trudeau

                  Let me help you out:

Canada's government is supercharging the demand for housing by rapidly increasing Canada’s population growth rate without any regard for where people will live and is now blaming the provinces and cities for not doing the impossible — tripling the number of homes they build each year.

The Liberals’ 2015 campaign platform promised “affordable housing for Canadians.” “We have a plan to make housing more affordable for those who need it most – seniors, persons with disabilities, lower-income families, and Canadians working hard to join the middle class,” Trudeau said at the time.

Housing affordability was actually one of the first issues championed by Trudeau when he first entered the House of Commons as a Liberal backbencher in 2008.

“In my travels throughout my riding of Papineau, I heard time and time again how access to affordable housing is a major challenge for Canadian families … high housing costs mean young people and new Canadians cannot buy homes, which leads to increased pressure on existing affordable housing,” said Trudeau in his second-ever parliamentary comments, delivered on Nov. 21, 2008.

Some people don't seem to understand that politicians make promises at every election. Just like a certain presidential candidate promised to get rid of Obamacare and failed spectacularly.
I generally go easy on people like this because they aren't very mentally stable and I don't want to push them over the edge.

Believing that political leaders have any control over the cost of rent, or housing in general, is insane.

So, now this cretin doesn't believe in supply and demand?

For the record. Hopefully some folks will learn something.

The law of supply and demand is the theory that prices are determined by the relationship between supply and demand. If the supply of a good or service outstrips the demand for it, prices will fall. If demand exceeds supply, prices will rise.

Trudeau's open-door policy enabled Canada for the first time to expand by more than 1 million people, or 2.7% in 2022, the fastest growth among industrialized economies and a rate comparable to many African nations (international migration accounted for 95.9%), according to Statistics Canada

Life expectancy for Canadians fell in 2022 for third year in a row, says StatCan

OTTAWA - Life expectancy for Canadians decreased for the third straight year in 2022, and more people died of COVID-19 than in any other year since the pandemic began, according to a report released Monday.
Statistics Canada's analysis of deaths(opens in a new tab) last year shows the average Canadian's life expectancy dropped to 81.3 years in 2022, a full year lower than the 82.3 years recorded in 2019.
