"Switching all police cars in the U.S. from gas to pure electric would save taxpayers an estimated $1.6 billion each year in fuel costs, according to my estimates. This savings is equivalent to the annual salaries of over 27,000 police officers," writes Tesla blogger Sawyer Merritt on X.

If you think an EV is a good fit for your household by all means, go buy one. I just object to government meddling in the matter. I also think the technology and infrastructure still has a little way to go. If my needs were different I'd have no problem buying one. I rely on street parking for my cars and I can't always park in front of my own home so plugging in at home and running a cord across the sidewalk or down the street will never be an option for me especially given the distances that being in the copier business often has me driving.Comment
