    toner/ink prices

    Ok, here's my rant.
    Black toner costs x
Color toner costs 2-3 times x
    Same with carrier/developer
How many times, when you are in the field, a LONG way from the office and you need say yellow developer/carrier,
but only have black or another color, have you tossed in the wrong one, ran enough copies to get the wrong color
out, or, swapped a color around or drum unit for CQ trouble shooting.
We all know it's the same, just the color is different.
But they charge 2-3-4 times are as much for the CMY as they do for K.
It surprises me, that some consumer group hasn't looked into it.

I'm wondering, how the hell do you end up with a machine that suddenly needs developer unless the machine has been very badly neglected?

Everyone is feeling the pinch of rising costs and trying to get the most out of every consumables in their machines. Going over life has been the norm for a while. It will cause some further issues where you have to scramble and improvise to keep machines running and customers happy.
I will not use compatible products.

Not the way I want to work but the way I have to to keep costs under control.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

dont believe i have ever put the wrong color in the wrong spot. attention to detail?? as im sure most everyone knows, with the newer machines you can't put the toner into the wrong spot. though i do think it was a good idea that some brands decided that for the b & w copiers. that once the black runs out, use that empty bottle as the new waste toner. though i am not much of a fan of the ones that lock the toner in until it is empty. though i completely understand the reasoning behind it. and i am sure there is probably a place in service mode to force it to unlock. but i will never tell. better benefit using a laser copier as opposed to inkjet.

There is a Sim to pop a toner out on a certain OEM. I can also quickly do it with a pocket knife.
