Soft Tool Bag w/Space for Laptop?

My company just got rid of our PDAs and we now carry netbooks. HP mini's to be exact. Now every time I go into a call both of my hands are tied up and I have to make an extra trip if I need to bring in parts.

Who else carries a laptop/netbook with them and what to you use to carry it + tools?

I carry a laptop, I have thought of the netbook, but that screen looks small for older eyes.
I personaly leave mine in my vehicle and only get it out when I need it,
because we use remote tech to close calls, I close them in my vehicle.
There are some tool bags that have wheels on them, some of our guys have them, I prefer the open top tool bag myself.
Check out Katun, I think the tool bags came from there.

Tool Cases, Portable by CH Ellis and Companies

They're similar to the ones we use.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

I've found that a regular laptop shoulder bag with a screwdriver, hemostats & cleaning supplies works for me when doing Japanese boxes. If it's an Oce', I break out the impact wrenches & 14" channel locks.

I got myself a veto propac LC a couple of years back, love it to bits, sling it over one shoulder, vacume in one hand leaving the the other free for doors or parts.

They have now got a laptop friendly version which I'm thinking to upgrading too.

I bought myself one of those small folding handtrucks ( like the ones for luggage ) at Sam's club, and with a bungee cord I can carry just about all I need to.

I fully intended to carry the laptop inside when I bought the 9.5" deep hard-side tool case. It fits, but it's a back breaker. The case filled is 38 lbs without the laptop, 43+ lbs with the laptop.

It's the fabled straw that broke the camel's back. I have to carry the laptop separately.

              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.

I have a soft side leather laptop bag that has several compartments. A side compartment that I think was meant for pens and calculators...lots of room here...this is where my hand tools go, drivers, pliers, hemostat, minitools, multimeter and such. Then the laptop space. Then what I think was supposed to be some kind of paper filing space, which is where I keep my talc powder, cleaning liquids and power/network cables and such in. Then there is one more pouch for odds and sods that don't have a space in the rest, like cleaning towels and stretchndusts.

One guy at my office also has a "carryon" bag one would use for flying, has extension handle with wheels and a few compartments in it. He retired a hard cover technician case and uses the inserts from that to hold his tools in place inside the bag. Laptop snuggled in behind with another divider to contain his cleaning stuff and small parts.

I've got a soft sided kit from Ames - they call it a Telco Toolbag, but it works perfectly for the tools I carry. There's 2 small Velcro pouches on one side for my glass cleaner, etc. and meter, and a large pouch on the other. I only carry my test charts and paperwork there, but it could easily fit my full size laptop. Weighs 32 pounds unless I've collected some extra spare screws, but on the shoulder strap its very manageable.

This is the closest thing to what I have thats still available, but it doesn't look like it has the outside pockets. There's a couple other promising selections here though...

TSA sells Wiha tools. The cases are from Agora Leather, Platt luggage, & Chicago Case. Folding carts with the bungies, Atrix Vacs with cases. cleaning chems, lubricants, rags, gloves, oh and parts.

Sounds like we have the same tool case. Mine is a Pelican. I am sure it weighs about 40, it weighs 10 empty. It will float with 70 lbs in it, and probably stop a bullet.
