My sarcasm is still bigger than your sarcasm... I'm the winner, I win!Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment

Well, I bet your copiers just pretend to be sleeping when you start talking about your feelings....sigpicComment

.... and your copiers quit before they get the job done ... then they are proud about how fast they are.Comment

huh...you'd think so wouldn't you, but unfortunately working with tools and metal means you're fortunate to get them to grow to a decent length before breaking. I have to keep them short and clean or it would be horrible. I have callouses from rebuilding fusers and pick-up assemblies. There is no nail polish that can resist metal scratching them. I'm not paid as well as the guys so I cant afford to have them professionally done and I really dont have the time. I'm would be kind of suspicious about someone with perfect nails in our industry, unless she was in sales. Hope that doesnt ruin your fantasy/opinion of us.I know what I know better than anyone else knows what I know.Comment

Thats not fair! I thought it would be equal pay for equal work in our profession!
I'm also suspicious of guys who wear white shirts to work, they cant be willing to dive into a choked up cleaning station and clean it out properly. At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.Comment

I have some respect for someone who would dare to wear a white shirt when dealing with toner and the morning coffee in the car. Though, I do hold techs, who carry every tool they own, have very clean nearly unused tools, or a complete matching set of tools, as suspect.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment

As I tell customers who ask why I wear a suit and a white shirt, I fix the machine with my hands not my shirt.
And as for women in the industry, never came across one in Scotland apart from one of my team meambers who acts like one!
But a good few years back there was a damn good female trainer at Panasonic.Comment

Harumph,
Even when I worked on liquid machines and toner-blowing Mita & Royal pigs, i've worn short sleeve white shirts cuz:
1. Customers think I know what i'm doing and must be a supervisor.
2. I know how to get dirty by knowing what not to touch.
3. White short sleeve shirts are the cheapest ones.I know what I know better than anyone else knows what I know.Comment

Ive been in the copier industry since 1995. Started out as an assembler for a reman facility and worked my way up to a senior tech.
It was a great way to learn cuz every sub assembly was rebuilt and we saw things that tech support and the engineers had never seen as far as issues.
The facility has now been closed for a few years and I now am doing field service. I have to say it was quite a transition from the factory, dealing with the customers and not being able to grab a part off of a scrap machine in the warehouse to fix a problem right away but I think I do alright.Comment
