If only Bill Gates had been born somewhere else in the world then all the default settings in Windows would be in metric and my blood pressure would be a lot lower as I wouldn't constantly fighting Microsoft Office to spell "colour" correctly.

Some of us don't mind doing the math, and find metric way too simple. And also know how to correctly spell acronyms (for example, FEMA and NASA are the correct spellings, Fema and Nasa are just silly and only very lazy people use that).
Then again, as long as 25.4 mm = 1 inch with a tolerance of 0.006 inch, it isn't that hard to figure out, so I really don't care.

            Why so complicated?

            1 cm = 0.393700787 inches

If we're that weird, why did you steal so much from us, why didn't you just invent your own language

Your spell check must be off. You have an extra letter in "color".

And if we are bitching about language, who had the bright idea to use "ph" for "f"? I think they were high.

And why do we need a "gh" at the end of high? If you wanted to show it as different from the greeting, you could dot the "i" with an arrowhead instead of a dot.

But only with vinegar and wrapped in yesterdays newspaper as they do (did?) in good ol' England.

Spend most of my holidays in the late 60's and early 70's on the Island. Great people, great country.

A couple of my fav English words...Cleave can either mean to slice something off or to hang on to. A child will cleave to its mother, or I'm gonna cleave this side of beef. Also polish/Polish wax the car or someone from Poland. I have heard that English is a very hard language to learn. Emujo
