I usually laugh at the conspiracy theorists, but in this case I've seen too much anti-gun media bias not to give them at least a nod.

Bottom line, no matter the weapon, it didn't shoot itself. And let's not forget the first step in this criminal's shooting spree was the criminal act of stealing these weapons - all of the gun grabber's proposed legislature wouldn't have done a thing to prevent this shooting.

Haven't read the entire post so I may be saying something that has already been said but; If this kid had used his car to run over and kill 26 people outside the school while the kids are waiting for the busses, would we be having a debate about banning cars? Or maybe just banning the type and size of car he used? We need to ban 1975 chevy impala's, they are too big and you don't need to be driving one. Of course not. The left/liberals/democrats in this country have their heads up their asses and wouldn't know common sense if it introduced itself to them. The gun did not kill those kids, the type of gun did not kill those kids and how many rounds are in a clip did not kill those kids. A mentally unstable young man killed those kids, period. He should have been in a mental institution but since the government has pretty much done away with them because they are politically incorrect and makes the person feel bad because he is not normal, you get what you get. And this kick they are on comparing the 2nd amendment to hunting has got to be the most assinine argument ever. The 2nd amendment was not designed with hunting in mind. It was designed at a time when a people were been oppressed and killed by the government because they wanted freedom from the anarchy and the framers of our constitution needed a way to make sure the people had a way to fight back if it ever happened again, pure and simple. There are so many other things in this country that have killed more people than all guns put together but you don't see them going after them do you. They are trying to take our guns for a reason and if you can't see that don't come knocking on my door for help when the poop hits the fan.

[QUOTE=Shadow1;337235]Freedom of speech is also a right, but you don't have the right to shout "Fire" in a crowded theater

Actually you do have the right to yell Fire in a theater but you will probably get arrested for causing a stampeed and arrested for any injuries that are caused by it. You won't get arrested for yelling fire.

So you think ancient doctrines relative to a people and time period different from our own are just fine the way they are?

So how was your December 21st apocalypse? Surely you must have believed the world would end because the Mayans said so 5000 years ago. Their calendar can't possibly be inaccurate, what with all the leap years that were invented after their extinction. How could they be wrong? They had it set in stone for crying out loud!

As soon as they start designing and selling cars specifically to kill, then I may do something other than LAUGH at your comment.
Sure, he had mental issues, he also had access to a lot of guns.

Guns are not manufactured and sold with the specific intention of killing (Bambi may take exception to that, but we're talking about humans) but rather guns are intended to protect their owner from other people and things that would do them harm. A car's primary purpose is to transport it's owner, but also of primary importance is the car's ability to protect it's owner from other people and things that could do them harm. Both can be misused. Neither are responsible for the actions of their owner, but an AR-15, or even 1911 .45 will protect its owner better than a .22 derringer - just as a Hummer protects its owner better than one of those little cracker box Smart Cars.

The Mayan Apocalypse? Really? You can do better than that. How about the Magna Carta or something? The Mayans couldn't predict even the coming of the Spanish, making their predictions actually kind of silly.

I can see this discussion has lost all touch with reality. I guess the title is correct, common sense is gone.

The constitution is not ancient, but it is dated. Tell me, do you know anyone 200 years old? No, it was before yours, or my, or anyone presently living's lifetime. It was a different time then and should hold less bearing now for the exact reason I stated, it's dated.

I haven't been fed anything, as a Canadian citizen, if I want to own a firearm, I have to take a safety course first. It's really that simple, if someone can't pass a safety course they shouldn't be allowed to carry the responsibility of a firearm. 'Merikuh has it backwards wherein any jackass can buy a gun, but he doesn't need the safety course until after he's shot someone, assuming he doesn't just off himself right after.

But don't preach to m about the Constitution. The biggest gripes on this forum about guns or the Constitution are people who live in some other land.
If you don't want the freedom that is likewise your business. We want it and have had it apparently according to you since ancient times. It's certainly not my fault....or any one else's in America, that your founders did not have the vision ours did.
