    Re: Your fat sugary ass!

Do you know that everyone has both a chronological age and a body age. Depending on your lifestyle your body age might be older or younger than your birth age.

Personally, I am fairly physically active and I am trying to loose some weight to get in shape for tennis season where I regularly compete against players half my age. I am not that happy with myself when I am over 199 lbs as it makes me too slow.

I work with 20+ service techs and it is a physical job that often requires lifting and contorting your body into odd positions to fix a copier. Some of the techs I know are definitely not aging that well.

I will try and find the link that allows you to calculate your body age.

I don't know if that would help me : most people just say that I'm older than dirt .

I'm not sure about being older than dirt ... but ... I will admit to being older than some trees I know .

saleserviceguy, why are you trying to lose some weight . You should already be in shape. Unless you've been drinking all those cokes, have a suger problem do you?

I play racketball myself. Very intense fast game. I think you are right about age and body age. 30 years of racketball and 40 years of fixing copiers has messed me up. Going to need a hip replacement one of these days. 60 years old with a limp. This getting old is not for pussies.

          Hip / shoulder / knee replacements , limps , overweight , play Racketball , Tennis , Jog , Golf , Football , Baseball , etc. :
          Not me . I'm just 61 , eat several times a day , drink sweet tea and Dr.Pepper , love chocolate , don't exercise ,
          no hurries , no worries.
I just need to do some relocations ... you know ... take my chest and put it back where it belongs ( not around my waist ) .

I guess I do need to do some exercises ... probably sit-ups .

I used to run track in school, and even after. Then I looked around one day while running and realized that there was no one with an automatic weapon chasing me, so , there was no good reason to be punishing myself by running . I decided to quit running, and have not regretted that decision for about 40 years now. The only runnin' I do now is to the grocery store , or to the Building Supply store.

SSG said " I am not that happy with myself when I am over 199 lbs as it makes me too slow. "

I consider myself to be in fairly average / good shape ... at least better than some people I know.

I like to think that I get exercise by cutting the grass ( a little bit over 1/2 acre with a walk-behind push mower ) .

Drugs and Alcohol have the potential to impair their user to the point where they could injure themselves (not much sympathy - life's a bitch - quit doing drugs/booze) or somebody else (Here lies the argument for regulation). We know the stories about somebody driving into a bus load of nuns while intoxicated - no such impairment to driving while carbonated. The sugar and caffeine may actually help keeping some fat slob from falling asleep behind the wheel.

So, in a country full of freedoms, you want the government to regulate and keep illegal things you don't like, and stay out of the business of things you do like, [guns]. And let me make sure I understand, the government should do this because of what is best for all? Interesting

Soda Sales Down to Lowest Level since 1996 despite Increase in Obesity Rate

With more than one-third of obese adults in the United States, there appears to be some good news in the obesity battle. American consumption of soda has been on the decline since 2005, and fell to its lowest level last year since 1996.

With more than one third of adults obese in the United States, there appears to be some good news in the obesity battle. American consumption of soda has been on the decline since 2005, and fell to its lowest level last year since 1996.
Total sales volume fell 1.2 percent in 2012 to 9.17 billion cases, according to Beverage Digest. That compares with declines of 1 percent in 2011 and 0.5 percent in 2010. More Americans are drinking water and tea. However, the report notes that there has been an increase in energy drink consumption Monster, up 19.1 percent; Red Bull, up 17 percent and Rockstar, up 8 percent.

Despite the decline, carbonated soft drinks still make up the biggest category of nonalcoholic beverages.

Americans on average drank 714 eight-ounce servings of carbonated soft drinks last year, down from 728 in 2010, Beverage Digest said, noting that consumption was the lowest since 1987.

Beverage Digest estimates that prices were up about 3 percent last year as manufacturers sought to pass through some of the increase in costs of raw materials including corn syrup, used as a sweetener. Those price increases likely contributed to the volume weakness.

According to Beverage Digest, the top four sodas -- Coke, Diet Coke, Pepsi-Cola and Mt. Dew -- all saw declining sales last year. Of those, Coke's market share was flat, while the other three all lost share.

New York appeals ruling striking down big soda ban

New York appeals ruling striking down big soda ban - Business on NBCNews.com

In its appeal, the city stated

"The rule is designed to make consumption of large amounts of sugary drinks a conscious and informed choice by the consumer," it said. "Thus, although a consumer is free to consume more than 16 ounces by ordering a second drink, getting a refill, or going to another store, he or she will be making an informed choice."
The city also said the Board of Health had legislative authority, and "is empowered to issue substantive rules and standards in public health."

The city announced that other organizations had filed legal briefs in support of the city's appeal. Those organizations include the National Alliance for Hispanic Health and the National Association of Local Boards of Health, as well as 30 others.

Original 1880s carte de visite of Frank Williams, a very large Victorian Era sideshow

In the 1880s this guy was so morbidly obese that he was a sideshow freak. In 2013 you can run into 20 or 30 like him each day in Wal-Mart.

My appetite is my shepherd and shall always want to maketh me to sit down and stuff myself. It leadeth me to my refrigerator repeatedly.
It leadeth me in the path of Burger King for a Whopper. It destroyeth my shape. Yes, though I knoweth I gaineth, I will not stop eating for the food tasteth so good. The ice cream and cookies, they comfort me.
When the table is spread before me, it exciteth me for I knoweth that soon I shall dig in. As I filleth my plate continuously, my clothes runneth smaller. Surely bulges and excess weight shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall be fat forever.

But the theaters have this practice down to a science...1st off we're gonna charge you $6.00 for a regular soda, and $7.00 for a regular pop-corn, but the large size is only $0.50 more so our brains think we are getting a good deal when we buy the "bargain" size. That is an amazing marketing ploy..Emujo

While I agree the prices are outrageous, the real crooks are the MPAA who barely let the theatre scrape up the pennies from showing the movie, forcing them to charge the exorbitant prices for the concessions. Movie costs theatre $50,000 to show it, picks up $45,000 from ticket sales (over the duration of the showing) and has to pay back the full $50,000. The extra $5,000 has to come from somewhere, and that little bit is what they'll make from concessions. Not exactly a profitable business all in all, courtesy of the MPAA mafia.
